S.D.I.D.
S.D.I.D is a Danish act
that dwells in the thrash metal genre without however having fully established
their sound, boundaries and influences. They still try out different and
controversial ideas and sounds and the final result sounds both retro-old
fashioned and modern. Their music might be difficult to most of you, but
it's something different and new and I think you should all at least give
it a patient try!

S.D.I.D. was started by John R Petersen and
then right after Thomas R. Frank was in. We have tried a lot of people
for 5 years. Then finally Jesper Mathisen and Casper Colliander and at
last Kolbrun Nakszynski was infected by the S.D.I.D.

2. WHAT DO THE INITIALS S.D.I.D. OF YOUR MONIKER
STAND FOR? HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH IT?
Still Drowning In Drugs. I don't know, just
a crazy idea and now the name of my band.
3. BY THE WAY IS THIS CROSS WITH THE CIRCLE CONTAINING
THE 4 LETTERS OF YOUR MONIKER, YOUR LOGO? IF YES, WHY DID YOU SELECT A
CROSS FOR YOUR LOGO?
Yes, a maltese cross. It looks cool and then
it's also a drifferent logo.
4. ARE YOU CONTENT WITH YOUR DEMO CD OR IS THERE
ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE TO CHANGE OR HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY?
Yeah! It's a long story, I (we) made a lot
of mistakes because of a low knowledge about recording music, and a wrong
room to do it in and not having the right gear.
5. LET’S SUPPOSE THAT YOU WERE GIVEN THE CHANCE
TO REVIEW YOUR DEMO. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TRYING TO BE AS OBJECTIVE AS POSSIBLE?
A tough one, very drifferent thrash metal
and I don't fuckin' know. OK, a demo with a band that shows they are able
to play from real heavy metal to thrash with a twist of acid with male
and female singers and all the small effects that make it all sound like
something you have never heard before. But it's too high to get it right.
6. COULD YOU PLEASE NAME SOME OF YOUR MOST BELOVED
BANDS AND ALBUMS? WHICH ARE THE MUSICIANS THAT LED YOU REALIZE THIS IS
THE KIND OF MUSIC THAT SUITS YOU THE BEST?
There are to many, I love almost all 80's
and 90's metal. Right now it's , Exciter-Anthrax-Crumbsuckers- and the
master Ozzy, but also bands like In flames-Murderdolls-Volbeat-Cradle Of
Filth.
7. YOU NAMED YOUR FIRST DEMO CD “HOME MADE PART
ONE”. I SUPPOSE THIS IS BECAUSE YOU RECORDED IT ON YOUR ON ON A PC. RIGHT?
WILL THERE ALSO BE A PART TWO OR WILL GO ENTER A STUDIO FOR YOUR NEXT DEMO?
Yes, made on a Home PC. No, Homemade Part
Two (still a Home PC). Next time a real studio, I know we will be an airborn
disease after our 3 Demo.
8. WHAT’S THE BEST AND WHAT’S THE WORST PART IN
YOUR MUSIC, ACCORDING TO YOU? TOWARDS WHICH DIRECTION DO YOU WANT YOUR
MUSIC TO EVOLVE?
The best, we don't sound like others. The
worst, got too many styles of metal in it. I really don't know, it's all
about the feelings I have, when I write music.
9. WHY DO YOU LIKE TO WRITE LOVE SONGS AND DECLARE
YOUR DEVOTION TO HUMAN KIND, LOVE AND PEACE IN THE WORLD? DON’T YOU THINK
THIS MIGHT SPOIL YOUR BRUTAL AND VIOLENT IMAGE? SERIOUSLY NOW, WHICH ARE
THE MAIN TOPICS YOUR LYRICS DEAL WITH? WHICH ARE YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION?
Our first promo was very very ironic and just
to draw some attention, and it did, but in the wrong way. Of course we
are full of hate, hell, sins and it's drugs, Satan 'n' demons all the way.
Love for the darkside. The lyrics, are songs of hate, fear, satan, violence
and abuse.
10. YOU HAVE DUAL VOCALS, BUT CONTRARY TO MOST
BANDS THAT HAVE BRUTAL MALE AND ETHEREAL FEMALE VOCALS, BOTH YOUR SINGERS
HAVE BRUTAL AND AGGRESSIVE VOICES. I WAS AMAZED AT YOUR SINGER’S VOICE,
SINCE SHE OFFERS A REALLY HARSH AND RAW INTERPRETATION WITH SOME HIGH PITCHES
FROM TIME TO TIME. DID YOU WANT TO HAVE THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE OR DID
YOU REALIZE HER POTENTIAL BY MERE COINCIDENCE?
It just happened, I was looking for a lead
guitar and then Kolbrun joined the band and it's realy cool, she's so great
and it's good to have the beauty and the beast on vocals.
11. WHAT KIND OF FEEDBACK HAVE YOU RECEIVED THIS
FAR? WHAT WAS THE MOST FLATTERING AND WHAT WAS THE WORST COMMENT YOU HAVE
RECEIVED?
Most of it has been bad, but we will never
give up. Some say we can't play and others like you (Christine) think it's
cool.
12. HAVE YOU SENT THE DEMO TO ANY LABELS OR DO
YOU THINK IT’S TOO EARLY FOR YOU? WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE A LABEL TO OFFER
YOU IN ORDER TO SIGN A DEAL WITH THEM?
Yes, but I know now it's too early and the
promo was shitty. It was not a good idea and did no good for S.D.I.D. The
show must go on, see you in hell.
13. DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS? WHAT
DO YOU HAVE TO OFFER TO THOSE ATTENDING YOUR GIGS?
No, we don't have any plans for now, but we
are strugglin' for it. And those who will come, will get a ride from heaven
to hell!
14. IF YOUR MUSIC WAS AN EMOTION, WHAT WOULD IT
BE? IF IT WAS A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?
An emotion, A Great Rush. A painting would
show a lot of drifferent people, some having fun with friendly violence,
some smokin' and tripin' and others just standin' there, but all dressed
in black. Or maybe a divided world that's drowning in war, the painter
of pain.
15. IF YOU COULD INVITE FAMOUS MUSICIANS IN YOUR
LIVE SHOWS, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
Steve Vai, because he's the right man for
some leads on my music. Ooooohhhh what a dream!
16. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF THERE WAS NO MUSIC IN
THE WORLD? HOW WOULD YOU CHANNEL ALL YOUR CREATIVE ENERGY?
No music, no life, I hope, I think, I will
do some art with my hands.
17. BY THE WAY HOW’S THE DUTCH METAL SCENE? ARE
THERE ANY NEW BANDS THAT DESERVE OUR ATTENTION AND YOU THINK WE MUST CHECK
OUT?
The Danish scene is big and great, we've got
a lot of place's to play, shop's, E-zine's in Danish, and so many great
bands! Must check , Volbeat and Illdisposed.
