Sayowa
Sayowa comes from Brazil
and right now they are recording their newest album. We had the chance
in one of the breaks from the recordings to talk with the guys and find
out what they have achieved in their latest European tour as a support
act for Pro Pain and many more...
1. Hi guys, first of all congratulations
on your debut self financed album! Was it difficult for you to release
it?
Yeah, in the beginning it is always hard for
new bands, but the tours really helped us, and gave us great chances, and
after a while I guess that the music starts to touch the people and the
thing goes on its own.
2. I believe that you combine some old school
elements with the modern sound. Do you believe that this thing made your
music interesting?
I hope so!! Hahaha!! Well we want to make
a different kind of rock or heavy music, but keeping the roots of those
kinds of music.
3. You have a great guest appearance; in three
songs you had the help of Andreas Kisser. How do you feel that Andreas
played guitar on your album?
Amazing!! We learned a lot with that experience,
and it's also really cool to be friend of someone that I admire so much!!
Now he is producing our new album, and it's becoming really good.
4. Also another impressive thing was the fact
that you were the support act in the latest European tour of Pro Pain.
How do you feel, do you believe that this helps the band more?
For sure!! It helped us very much, and also
gave us the chance to play at very good venues in cool towns!!
5. Can you tell us a few things from the recording
sessions of your latest album?
Well, I'm gonna tell you how the record sessions
that we are doing right now are going: GREAT!!!
We are working very hard trying to get the
best of each one of us! We are spending hours on the studio looking for
what each song needs! We are also having an amazing time!!
6. How do you write the lyrics?
First we write the instrumental parts of the
song, then we do the melodies and the ideas for the lyrics usually come
from the daily struggles in life! I like to write about the moments in
my life that I had to find my inner strength! For the new album we are
writing a lot of lyrics the whole band.
7. Will you shoot any video clips?
We did one video clip from the "Treme Terra"
album, the song is called “Over Water”. We have plans to do a video clip
for the new album as soon as it is ready!
8. Tell me the first five words that you have
in your mind when you hear the names: Sepultura, Shaman and Angra.
BRAZILIAN METAL IS FUCKING GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
9. How do you see the underground metal scene
in Brazil?
It depends on were you are in Brazil. There
are a lot of different kinds of music here, Sao Paulo has a great scene.
10. Tell me your upcoming plans concerning
the band.
The new album (which is untitled yet), a new
video and a new tour!
11. Thank you for your time and close the interview
as you want.
Thank you and I hope to play in your country,
and make it SHAKE soon!!
