Machinemade God
Machinemade God is a new German based band that has recently released its debut album under the title "The Infinity Complex". The band moves on the melodic death/thrashcore sound and they create and offer us incredible amounts of energy. So, read what Sky, the band's guitarist had to tell us...

1. HELLO! ARE YOU CONTENT WITH THE FINAL RESULT OF “THE INFINITY COMPLEX” OR IS THERE ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE TO CHANGE OR TO HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY?
I was totally surprised after finishing the record cause it got this fat sound through Jacob Bredahl who’s our Producer as well (Go to Denmark and record your cds with this dude!). Of course you’ve always something to complain about because you’re way more critical with yourself than others but that’s part of it! I’d like to have more time for the next recording process because we were limited in time, so we recorded the whole thing in 11 days. I’m a lot into experiments at the studio but it wasn’t possible on “The Infinity Complex”. We hope that will change in the future (more time!).
2. PLEASE SINCE YOU ARE NEWCOMERS GIVE US A SHORT BAND BIO AND POINT OUT YOUR MOST IMPORTANT ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR. PRESENT THE CURRENT LINE UP AS WELL.
We got Flo doing vocals, Max on the drums, Sven on Bass, Holger and me, Sky, on guitars. With this line up the band exists since fall 2004. Our most important achievement so far is, of course, our cooperation with Metal Blade Records and our debut album.
3. “THE INFINITY COMPLEX” IS YOUR DEBUT ALBUM. GIVE US SOME INFO ON THE SONGWRITING AND RECORDING SESSIONS. WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCES HAVE YOU GAINED THROUGH ALL THIS?
It was like older material clashing against new… I joined the band late September 2004 and wrote my Guitar to most of the eight existing songs. I brought all the material of the year before with me since I had no band to write for after leaving Suidakra.
4. WHY DO YOU THINK MELODIC DEATH/THRASHCORE HAS BECOME SO POPULAR LATELY? WHICH DO YOU THINK ARE THE ELEMENTS THAT THE FANS FIND APPEALING?
Don’t know ... I’m not into Melodic Death / Thrashcore anyways.
5. OK! EACH MONTH THERE ARE MANY RELEASES FROM BANDS THAT PLAY SIMILAR MUSIC TO YOURS. SO, GIVE US REASONS WHY WE SHOULD CHECK OUT AND SUPPORT YOU INSTEAD OF ANOTHER BAND. WHAT’S THE WORST PART OF YOUR MUSIC, ACCORDING TO YOU?
Just check us at first but not instead. There is no bad, how could there be worst…
6. LET’S SUPPOSE THAT YOU WERE ASKED TO WRITE A REVIEW IN ORDER TO PRESENT “THE INFINITY COMPLEX”. SO, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TRYING TO BE AS OBJECTIVE AS POSSIBLE?
Maybe something like: “It seems that the sonic wall hasn’t been broken through yet. For a debut album we are curious what is yet to come.” Ah gee, this is hard to do of course there are elements we are not completely satisfied with. But should an artist interpret his own work?
7. WOULD YOU EVER CONSIDER OF ADDING DIFFERENT ELEMENTS OR EXPERIMENTING WITH YOUR SOUND? IF YES, WHICH ARE THOSE ELEMENTS YOU’D LIKE TO ADD?
Maybe a little bit of professional overtone vocals could be cool. At present I am also experimenting with my new guitar, a Caparison, when before I only played Gibson. There is some new sound schemes developing, so look out for our second album, I will be adding some new features on my side.
8. WHICH ARE THE MAIN TOPICS THAT INTRIGUE YOU TO WRITE ABOUT ON “THE INFINITY COMPLEX”? WHICH ARE YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION?
Every day life with all its specialties delivered.
9. OK! I COULD UNDERSTAND MOST OF YOUR TRACK TITLES, BUT WHAT HAS “SNOW WHITE” GOT TO DO WITH AN EXTREME RELEASE?
How would you define extreme release? Doesn’t snow white make that even more extreme? I was present when my grandma died, that experience was rather “extreme”, and that’s what snow white is about. Some people tell me its as intense as it can get, so judge for yourselves.
10. COULD YOU DESCRIBE WHAT THE COVER ARTWORK MEANS? WHO CREATED IT AND WHAT’S THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE BUTTERFLY AND THE ALBUM TITLE “THE INFINITY COMPLEX”? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SUGGEST?
Actually it is a Moth and it describes the whole complex or process repeating itself over and over again. You can project it on your daily routines, the cycles of life, birth, rebirth, the never ending story.
11. DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS? WHAT SHOULD THOSE ATTENDING YOUR SHOWS EXPECT TO SEE?
Our plan is to play as much as we can get gigs. Well, you can expect us on Stage!
12. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF THERE WAS NO MUSIC IN THE WORLD? HOW AND WHERE WOULD YOU CHANNEL ALL YOUR CREATIVE ENERGY?
Hard to imagine. I think I’d be building castles in the sand… No, really, I got no clue, I like working with videos, so maybe that’s what I’d be doing. Still, not as much of a thrill without music as well.
13. IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO INVITE FAMOUS MUSICIANS TO APPEAR IN YOUR LIVE SHOW, WHO WOULD YOU CALL AND WHY?
Definitely “Adam D.” of “Killswitch Engage” and “Santana”. To have Adam running around in a circle while I’m challenging Sir Santana!
14. IF YOUR MUSIC WERE AN EMOTION, WHAT WOULD IT BE? IF IT WERE A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?
The emotion is pure will to create and the painting would be something from the days of surrealism. Maybe Mati Klarwein, or  Max Ernst. But, I also like the contemporary Ricardo Cortez from New York City… check him out.
15. WHAT TITLE WOULD YOU LIKE THIS INTERVIEW TO HAVE? A TITLE THAT WOULD SUM UP THE WHOLE MACHINEMADE GOD ESSENCE?
Complex Infinity, since we have only just begun…
16. I LIKE YOUR BAND NAME A LOT. IT’S REALLY INTRIGUING AND THOUGHT PROVOKING. ACTUALLY IT CAN BE EXPLAINED IN VARIOUS WAYS AND OFFER FOOD FOR MUCH THOUGHT AND TALK. WHAT’S YOUR DEFINITION OF THE WORD?
You can project it on a million things in life… so I will just mention the most obvious. Computers for example, these Gods have already conquered the whole planet! There are some territories which aren’t infected yet, maybe the deepest Rainforest. Mankind is on the best way to clear all our Rainforest-Areas to produce Mc Donald’s packaging…wish you a “happy supporting the rainforest chainsaw massacre meal”! (Also something I think about is: What was first, the chicken or the egg?)
17. THANK YOU! LEAVE A MESSAGE TO ALL THE METALLERS…
Enjoy the show and live in the now, not yesterday. Oh and don’t forget to buy our new album, so there will be many more to come!
    Take care! Sky
