Inactive Messiah is a necoming
band from Greece that incorporates in their sound a great deal of genres
and emotions, trying to create and build their own identity. Meanwhile
they've released their sophomore album "bE mY drUg" and this is what we
present you here with the interview that follows...
1.GIVE US IN BRIEF THE MOST IMPORTANT MOMENTS
OF THE BAND AND PRESENT THE CURRENT LINE UP.
That’s a hard one…But signing with Holy Records
could be considered as the most important one cause without Holy there
would be no “bE mY drUg”…. ;)
2.WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IF YOU WERE ASKED BY YOUR
LABEL TO PRESENT “BE MY DRUG” IN A FEW WORDS?
The best of us in a really hard period….
3.WHAT’S THE BEST AND WHAT’S THE WORST PART OF
YOUR MUSIC, ACCORDING TO YOU?
The best part I think is the orchestral parts
because they give a special color to our music…But that is also the worst
part because in a concert it's really hard to make the sound so pure that
the orchestras will have great sound quality…
4.ARE THERE ANY ELEMENTS YOU’D LIKE TO ADD OR
EXPERIMENT WITH IN THE FUTURE?
Some more intstruments would be a great pleasure
for us to have… Maybe some Greek traditional or some other which is not
so popular in this kind of music….
5.WHY DO YOU THINK THE METAL HEADS SHOULD CHECK
YOU OUT? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO OFFER TO THE SCENE? IS THERE SOMETHING YOU
FEEL THAT SETS YOU APART?
We are a new band which has never been tagged
with a specific style of metal music so that makes us more famous around
several styles…We combine many styles along with orchestras and what we
do is what we like…So if someone listens to IM he will know that it's as
real as it gets….
6.WHICH ARE THE SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES BETWEEN
“BE MY DRUG” AND YOUR DEBUT SELF TITLED ALBUM?
Actually I think the question should be like
“are there any similarities?”…. "bE mY dRug" is something completely different
compared to the “Inactive Messiah” album….One reason is that the band is
more mature now…But the main reason is the almost total change of line-up…Different
guitars, different vocals, I think that’s enough!
7.WHICH ARE YOUR MAIN INFLUENCES AND WHO ARE THOSE
MUSICIANS THAT MADE YOU REALIZE THIS IS THE KIND OF MUSIC YOU LOVE AND
WANT TO FOLLOW?
We don’t have any main influences…We get what
we like from every kind of band or music..We all listen to several kinds
or metal or non metal and that’s really good…About our style now, we have
never wanted to follow a specific path…We always like to make music to
express our feelings even if you consider that as black metal or even progressive
metal…
8.WHICH ARE THE MAIN THEMES YOUR LYRICS DEAL WITH
AND WHICH ARE YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION?
There is no main theme in our lyrics…We like
to talk about anything or anyone…Sometimes bad or good things can happen
to u or your friends…You may fall in love or hate someone, well that’s
a source of inspiration, real life…
9. YOUR TRACK TITLES SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES, BUT
I THINK WE’D ALL WANT YOU TO COMMENT ON EACH TRACK’S LYRICS OR ELSE I’D
HAVE TO ASK YOU QUESTIONS FOR EVERY SONG OF YOURS!
Then let’s get started!
"Sing" is about a man’s thoughts or better
a man’s fantasies … I think its really obvious…
"All your dreams" is a really dark song….
And you can understand that someone is about to take revenge!
"Be my Drug" is a song about someone who is
in love…All our songs is something we feel or felt at some point…You just
have to find who is that!!!
"Synthetic Snow" is about a specific drug…So
the song talks about the effects of this drug…I think its obvious which
drug is that…
"Pain" is again about Love but from another
point of view…Where love becomes PAIN….
Well…Not much to say about "Beat it"…But you
have to listen to it carefully…We’ve changed some lyrics... I really liked
that!
"Hear Me Tonight" is again about saying what
you feel to someone… but in a desperate way…Love for the third time!!!
"Before the end" should be considered as a
song which has to do with suicide….
And last but not least "Lord Of Lies" is about
the master of illusions or lies and his threats…Not so many lyrics cause
we wanted it to be an outro too….
10.THE CD ALSO CONTAINS A COVER OF MICHAEL JACKSON’S
“BEAT IT”. WHY AND HOW DID YOU DECIDE TO COVER THIS PARTICULAR SONG?
It’s the part when we all try to choose a
song… Everyone has to choose between three and then we try not to argue!
Lol We were looking for something special and I think we got the right
song!
11.ON THE SAME GROUND… WHY DO YOU ALWAYS INCLUDE
A COVER SONG IN YOUR RELEASES?
A cover is always something different for
us… We have fun changing the normal version of a song and making fit to
our style…In addition we never wanted to pretend we’re “the bad guys”…We
enjoy our music as much as we can…
12.I LIKE THE COVER ARTWORK. REALLY STRANGE. WHO
CREATED IT AND WHAT’S ITS CONNECTION TO THE ALBUM TITLE?
The cover is made by set<h> ( Seth Siro
Anton ) famousfor his work for Paradise Lost, Rotting Christ and a really
big amount of bands…Well, when you get addicted to drugs sometimes you
have a band end…That’s whats the “abused angel” is all about….
13.IF YOU HAD A BIG BUDGET TO SHOOT A VIDEO CLIP,
WHICH SONG OF YOURS WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND HOW DO YOU IMAGINE IT TO BE?
Probably that would be "Beat it" cause we’d
like to see Emppu again and have a great video shooting like the ones Nightwish
have!But I can't really imagine it…But if it was a really big budget then
why not invite the original composer too?ha ha
14.HOW DO YOU PLAN TO PROMOTE YOUR WORK? HAVE
YOU GOT ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS OR EVEN FOR A TOUR?
We’ve already done two European tours (DOMINATION
TOUR & BLITZKRIEG 4) with some really respectful bands and we also
have some live shows in Athens…. What we want is to tour in every part
of the world…
15.IS THERE A QUESTION YOU’D LIKE TO BE ASKED
AND NO ONE HAS EVER ASKED YOU SO FAR?
Hm…that would be how I started listening to
metal music… Well that was when my brother had bought “Trash” of Alice
Cooper and I used to ask him to put on “Poison” again and again and I went
to sleep next to the speakers!:)
16.WHAT’S THE STRANGEST OR FUNNIEST INCIDENT THAT
HAS OCCURRED TO THE BAND?
The funniest but actually sad is that we were
recording "bE mY dRug" and suddenly our label closes down…That was so bad
but still funny…
17.BY THE WAY HOW DID YOU SELECT YOUR MONIKER(Nickname????)
AND WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SUGGEST WITH IT?
Well when the band was under the name Womb
of Maggots and we had to change that name, some really bad things happened
to our planet…So we thought, well if there is a Messiah, it's certain that
he is Inactive….
