Euroforce
Euroforce is the new Greek
sensation in the area of European power metal, combining everything in
its sound, from incredible vocals to a virtuoso guitarist and some really
nice rhythm parts. Need I say more? I guess not, so why don't you read
the interview that follows to learn some more things about them? I'm sure
you'll find it interesting and informative!
1. HELLO, THEODORE! OUR CONGRATULATIONS FOR
THE EUROFORCE DEBUT ALBUM, IT REALLY SOUNDS GREAT… SO IS THIS THE POWER
METAL BAND THAT YOU TOLD ME YOU’D FORM SOMETIME AGO (IN AN INTERVIEW WE
DID FOR YOUR SOLO ALBUM)?
Thank you very much Nikos. You are right…After
releasing my second instrumental CD “Virtual Virtuosity” I though that
this was the right time to do something different and produce a CD with
vocals. Jiotis Parcharidis (Human Fortress) was the perfect choice for
vocalist. So we started composing together with the drummer Spyros Kabasakalis.
2 years later our debut CD was released from Sonic Age Records.
2. JIOTIS PARCHARIDIS, THE VOICE OF HUMAN FORTRESS
IS AN AMAZING SINGER. HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO CONTACT WITH HIM AND COOPERATE
IN THIS BAND?
Theodosis Miras (Secret Port records) and
Stamatis Kritikos (Gate of Lions zine) helped me a lot to contact Jiotis.
I like his voice very much. I sent him a demo CD, he liked the Euroforce
stuff and so we decided to make this CD together.
3. LET ME PLAY THE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE AND ASK YOU:
DID YOU CHOOSE TO COOPERATE WITH JIOTIS BECAUSE HE IS ALREADY KNOWN WITH
HUMAN FORTRESS? DID YOU THINK THAT A QUIET KNOWN SINGER MIGHT ALSO HELP
YOU PROMOTE EUROFORCE EVEN BETTER?
Of course….. Jiotis is a great singer and
established in the metal scene. Especially in Germany. I wanted a
great guy and vocalist and someone to help me to promote easier the Euroforce
CD. Jiotis was the perfect combination of both.
4. JIOTIS AND YOU ARE THE MOST KNOWN MEMBERS OF
THE GROUP, SO CAN YOU TELL US A FEW THINGS FOR THE OTHER MUSICIANS THAT
HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THIS ALBUM? HAVE THEY CONTRIBUTED IN ANY WAY TO THE
SONGWRITING PROCESS?
The other members are Spyros Kabasakalis on
the drums. I recorded all the bass guitar parts. Spyros helped us a lot
during the recording procedure with a lot of great ideas on the rhythm
section parts.
5. SOMETHING ELSE THAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS
HOW YOU SEE EUROFORCE. IS IT A PROJECT OR A “NORMAL” BAND? WILL YOU CONTINUE
RELEASING ALBUMS WITH THE SAME LINE-UP?
It’s definitely a normal band. Now we are
rehearsing regularly, very soon the audience will be able to see Euroforce
live.
6. NOW, WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO NAME THE BAND “EUROFORCE”
AND NOT GIVE IT ANOTHER NAME, MAYBE A GREEK ONE, THAT WILL SHOW YOUR ORIGIN?
I think that the word “Euroforce” says it
all. We play Euro-power neoclassical metal. It is a “catchy” name and describes
absolutely what Euroforce is all about.
7. ONE OTHER THING THAT I HAVE NOTICED IS THAT
JIOTIS HAS RECORDED HIS VOCALS IN GERMANY AND YOU HAVE RECORDED THE REST
OF THE MUSIC HERE IN GREECE. WHAT KIND OF DIFFICULTIES SUCH A LONG DISTANCE
CO-OPERATIONS HAVE? WAS THERE A TIME THAT YOU THOUGHT TO QUIT THE WHOLE
PROJECT?
We didn’t face any particular difficulties.
We were in contact every day with e- mails and exchanging mp3 samples.
So it was easier to be in control of the Recording procedure of the vocals
and the final mix.
8. ENOUGH WITH THE MUSICAL PART, LET’S TALK A
LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE LYRICS. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM? CAN YOU TELL
US IN A FEW WORDS WHICH THE THEME OF EACH SONG INCLUDED IN YOUR DEBUT ALBUM
IS?
All the lyrics were written by Jiotis and
Theodosis Miras (Secret Port Records). The lyrics talk about the everyday
life of the average people (e.g Modern Times), about personal situations
(e.g Spirits by my Side, By Neptune’s Hands). Also some lyrics are Greek
oriented. (e.g Brighter Hellas, Hellenic Spirit).
9. HOW DID THE PRESS AND FANS RECEIVE SO FAR YOUR
ALBUM? IS THERE A REVIEW THAT YOU READ AND DISAPPOINTED YOU?
We received many reviews. The promotion department
of my record label (Sonic Age Records) did a great job. The majority of
the reviews are very good. Of course it’s impossible to please everyone.
10. DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS TO DO ANY LIVE SHOWS
OR IS SOMETHING LIKE THAT VERY DIFFICULT, SINCE JIOTIS LIVES IN GERMANY?
We are rehearsing without Jiotis. When a specific
date for a live performance will come up we will do some rehearsals all
together (with Jiotis) and everything will be fine. We are professional
musicians so I think that we can face any difficulty.
11. THEODORE CAN YOU TELL US WHEN YOU PLAN TO
RELEASE A NEW SOLO ALBUM? DO YOU ALSO HAPPEN TO KNOW WHEN HUMAN FORTRESS
WILL RELEASE A NEW WORK?
My 3rd instrumental CD will be out in January
2006. It is 90% ready, it will contain 11 tracks, the style will be Neoclassical
with a lot of Fusion and Progressive influences, it will be a great mix
of all these music styles. Human Fortress are preparing their new CD, release
date will be available soon….
12. I HAVE ASKED YOU SO MANY THINGS AND NOW I
HAVE REALIZED THAT I DIDN’T ASK YOU YOUR OPINION ABOUT HUMAN FORTRESS’
MUSIC…
I liked Human Fortress a lot, I found Jiotis
through their music. It’s a great band, I wish them to have success with
their new CD!
13. WHICH SONG YOU HAVE INCLUDED IN YOUR DEBUT
ALBUM, YOU BELIEVE IS THE MOST COMPLETE COMPOSITION AND WHY?
Tough question, maybe “Spirits by my Side”,
it has a good balance between melody/virtuosity with a very “catchy” chorus.
