David Readman
David Readman is a well known singer, renowned for his warm and passionate voice and his emotive interpretations both in Adagio and in Pink Cream 69. However, his time has come to release a solo work, which in fact is a step closer to his psyche, a solo album that fills you with beautiful and memorable melodies and a feeling of love and honesty! So this is why we have David here answering our questions… oh, and I think you’re gonna enjoy this!!!

1. Congratulations on your solo work! Are you happy with how it turned to be now that some time has passed?
Yes I am very happy with my album, I listened to it again last week after a long time and I’m happy.
2. You are in the metal scene many years and yet it was now that you decided to release a solo album. Why is that? Did you wait for experience and influences to “accumulate” and be filtered before deciding to release a personal work?
To a point, I have wanted to make this album for a while, due to other commitments it often took a back seat, at the end of last year I was finished with the recordings.
3. You used to be a singer in Adagio and now you belong to Pink Cream 69. Which are the best and most important moments and experiences you’ve gained from these two bands?
With PC69 it has to be Japan, that was a great experience, I remember it very well, and still talk about it. With Adagio it would be the show we played in Paris, it was great to meet the French people.
4. What’s the highlight of this album and what part or element do you think needs further improvement?
Hard to say, I love the way it sets off with “Without You” and then “Evil Conbination”….and improvement, where? I guess the whole think could have been faster, I know now for next time.
5. If you were asked to write a review for your solo project, what would you say trying to be as objective as possible?
A well-made album made by an Englishman living in Germany, in times were people like to listen to noise.
6. Give us reasons why the metal heads should check you out. What do you think you have to offer to the contemporary metal scene?
Well if you like noise-core, and lots of blood, this could maybe be not your kind of record, or it could be cool for a Sunday morning. No but really if you like good hard rock with lots of melody, and like to sing along, then this is for you!
7. What kind of procedure do you follow whilst composing the songs for your solo project? This is your first solo work so was the songwriting process more difficult than the process you follow with Pink Cream 69? I mean is it more difficult to be the one responsible for everything or is it more relaxing?
No it was quite hard, but I enjoyed the process, there were high and low points to it. It’s not easy writing good songs, it’s easy to write many alright songs. I work on the computer in my studio, so you can always try things. It’s sure the best way to work these days.
8. Which are the main influences and genres that influenced you the most in the creation of this album? Are there any solo projects from other musicians you admire and had as a standard model?
I guess the sounds of the 70s and 80s, Deep Purple, Led Zep, Hendrix, Whitesnake. Not really I know this is my solo album, and I guess even if I said it wasn’t people would still insist that it is, I just wanted to make a great record, and that’s it!
9. You’ve cooperated with some very famous and worthy musicians. How did this happen? How and why did you get in touch with these specific musicians?
Most of the guys are friends of mine, people I have worked together with anyway. The other guys I contacted through the Internet, that’s the way it goes these days.
10. Which are your sources of inspiration? Which are those topics or situations that “force” you into putting them down on paper? Tell us a few things about the lyrics.
It can be a lot of things, politics, personal experiences, stories whatever fits the song in question.
11. Have you got any plans for live shows or for a possible tour? How do you plan to promote your new album?
Yeah I’m sure we will play some shows for the album, I already had a few phone calls, and the guys are ready!
12. If you had a huge budget to shoot a video clip, which song of yours would you choose and how do you imagine it to be? 13. What kind of emotions do you think your music creates to your listeners?
I guess a positive feeling, many colors, and hopefully they will remember the good times when they hear it again.
14. What thoughts or ideas pass through your mind whilst singing or listening to your songs?
I think a lot about England to be honest, strange but true, the next album I will record the vocals there…
15. Thank you! Leave a message to your fans…
Thanks for reading, Hope you dig my album and see you next time!
