OK! This is something great!
I have this webzine for almost 4 years now and this is the first band that
has actually tried to bribe me... after they become famous rock stars!
So, please make sure you support these guys, cause I have to collect my
dues from them!!! I'd also like to ask from Manowar to lend them thier
girls, so that Burning Black can shoot their high-budget video clip. What
will it show? Well, I don't think it needs much effort to realize... Hahaha!
This was one of the funniest interviews I received! Well done Gio!
1. FIRST OF ALL I HAVE TO SAY THAT YOUR MUSIC
HAS A LOT OF INFLUENCES FROM RHAPSODY. DO YOU AGREE WITH THAT? HEHE..
You’ve heard our CD for many hours.. we TOTALLY
agree eheh! Seriously now, we are a classic heavy metal band... don’t expect
a power-fantasy Ialian band, even though we respect all metal bands, be
it power, heavy, death or black.
2. OK! I WAS JUST KIDDING, SINCE YOU ARE A NEW
BAND CAN YOU TELL US A FEW THINGS ABOUT YOU? CAN YOU ALSO PRESENT THE CURRENT
LINE-UP? HAVE YOU PLAYED IN OTHER BANDS BEFORE FORMING BURNING BLACK?
Ok! We play together since 2003 with the same
line-up, except for the bass player cause now we are without him. Our singer,
Max, played with Venice Mist, a good underground band, and he did a lot
of important concerts. Brian, lead guitar, is Canadian and he also plays
with a black metal band (Hell Terrorist) as drummer. Gio, rhythm guitar,
is the songwriter with Brian. He played with some bands without making
important things and Andrea, our drummer as well.
3. I READ IN YOUR BIO THAT YOU HAVE DONE MANY
LIVE SHOWS BEFORE RELEASING THIS DEMO. SO I CAN IMAGINE THAT YOU HAVE CREATED
A FAN BASE. AMI I RIGHT?
Yeah you are right as always eheh! We are
very lucky, cause we created a solid fan base which permits us to play
with a lot of noise and people, and you know, it helps us offer a powerful
live!We play for them!
4. SINCE YOU DON’T HAVE CONSTANT MEMBERS FOR THE
BASS GUITAR AND DRUM POSITION, CAN YOU TELL ME WHO HELP YOU IN THE LIVE
SHOWS? ARE THE MUSICIANS THAT HELP YOU IN THE LIVE SHOWS MEMBERS OF OTHER
BANDS?
Ehi, Andrea, the drummer, is very angry with
you cause..he is constant with us eheh! AJ (www.alessandrojacobi.com) helps
us with the bass in the live shows and in the studio since Mick left the
band to play another kind of music. He is a talented musician who plays
many instruments, and a MONSTER with the bass.
5. LET’S TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR INFLUENCES.
CAN YOU NAME WHICH BANDS PLAYED A BIG ROLE AND HELPED YOU CREATE YOUR SOUND?
ARE THERE ANY NEW BANDS FROM ITALY THAT YOU LIKE A LOT? CAN YOU NAME A
FEW?
Oh..maybe you know some bands like Accept,
Judas Priest, Dio, Iron Maiden.. When we write a song we don’t think of
how it has to turn out to be.. In Italy...Human Mind Secrets, an underground
band..or Nicta that you reviewed in your site! And then, “old” Italian
bands like White Skull and Rain!
6. LET’S TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE LYRICS. WHO
IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM AND WHAT KIND OF THEMES INSPIRE YOU TO WRITE ABOUT?
Max, our singer, writes the lyrics. He often
takes his motorbike and goes in isolated places... we can say that he takes
his inspiration from the Road and Nature!
7. THE SONG “SMELL OF FIRE” TALKS ABOUT THE FEELING
OF FREEDOM THAT A METALHEAD FEELS WHEN LISTENING TO OUR FAVORITE MUSIC
OR IS IT SOMETHING MORE?
You are almost right! You know, something
is wrong... something is bad... maybe you are alone... but you have your
Music, you have yourself and you can trust these two!
8. IN THE SONG “NOTHING FOR THE LOSERS”, DO YOU
EXPRESS YOUR WISH TO CREATE MUSIC THAT WILL STAY FOREVER IN THE MINDS OF
METAL FANS?
You read the lyrics, and I’ ve not paid you
hehe! Seriously, yes, we want to say that this world is not easy and nobody
gives you something for free... If you want to do something good, it’s
not easy cause “Nothing in this world is for the losers”, but we want to
try!
9. SOMEWHERE IN YOUR BIO YOU SAY THAT YOU
DON’T WANT TO PLAY A NEW KIND OF METAL MUSIC. AREN’T YOU AFRAID THAT THIS
STATEMENT MIGHT MAKE SOME PEOPLE CHARACTERIZE YOU AS NARROWMINDED, AS A
BAND THAT ONLY PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE GREAT GROUPS THAT LOVES? WHAT DO YOU
HAVE TO ANSWER TO THAT?
I always hear people saying this... but we
don’t care! We are not narrowminded, we listen to a lot of things and our
musical culture is not limited. But playing our favourite kind of Metal,
doesn’t mean that we have to add keys, synths or similar stuff, we only
need a voice, guitars, a bass and drums to play what we love! And to play
Heavy Metal doesn’t mean we can’t have a personal sound and we would like
it if people could say “Yeah, it’s Classic Heavy Metal... and it’s the
Burning Black Sound!”. We respect all kinds of Metal..keyboards..synths..so
people HAVE to respect our view! Are we wrong?! Eheh!
10. YOU SAY THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY COMPOSED 10
SONGS, BUT YOU HAVE RELEASED ONLY 4 ON THIS DEMO. WHY DID YOU DO THAT?
WHEN SHOULD WE EXPECT YOUR NEW DEMO?
Yeah, only 4 on this dem, .cause we needed
to understand where we were going and our limits. We have to see what people
think and above all we needed to hear our CD, whilst sitting on a chair
to understand what can go wrong... we are not Metal Gods or Kings of Metal,
sometimes we can make mistakes eheh! In October we are going to record
our new “demo”, but it will be a true fucking album! Now we know what it
means to be in a studio and we are ready to record a professional album..with
8 tracks..we hope you’ll like it!
11. IF YOU READ IN SOME REVIEWS THAT YOU HAVE
TO CORRECT SOME THINGS IN YOUR MUSIC, WOULD YOU TRY TO REWRITE THE SONGS
YOU HAVE ALREADY COMPOSED OR WOULD YOU KEEP THEIR SUGGESTIONS IN MIND FOR
THE FUTURE?
It’s very simple, we’d read who wrote it and
then we would kill him! Eheh! Seriously, we listen to everybody..and if
the advise is good, we can follow it but the most important thing is that
we really like the changes! 100% convinced..or nothing!
12. AS A BAND I IMAGINE THAT YOU WANT TO SIGN
WITH A LABEL. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT EXACTLY YOU WANT A LABEL TO OFFER YOU
IN ORDER TO SIGN WITH THEM?
Uhm.. $1.000.000...is enough!eheh! We don’t
want anything in particular. We only need a chance to record and sell a
good CD without any tricks. When we will be Rockstars, we will think of
money.. and Nick make sure to be nice with us and you will have a
lot of “Burning” groupies when we are in Greece!eheheheh!
13. IMAGINE THAT YOU HAVE A LOT OF MONEY TO SHOOT
A VIDEO CLIP. WHICH SONG OF YOURS WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND HOW DO YOU IMAGINE
IT TO BE?
Maybe, “Smell The Fire”... .trying to make
the lyrics come true...a road...a motorbike... we could ask Manowar to
lend us their women ahahah!
14. LET’S SUPPOSE THAT TERMS LIKE HEAVY METAL
AND POWER METAL HAVE NEVER BEEN INVENTED TO DESCRIBE OUR MUSIC. WHICH WORDS
WOULD YOU USE IN ORDER TO GIVE A DESCRIPTION OF YOUR SOUND?
Oh Nick..this is an hard question...why???
