Autere
So, here we have 3 guys from the Finnish band Autere, who are more than willing to offer you a tour inside their minds and reveal their band's present state and future goals... I think they say it all in this very interesting interview and this is why there's no reason for this prologue to exist. Just skip it and move on to the real, important thing below...

1. CONGRATULATIONS ON “HAVOC MONOLOGY”! HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT IT? ARE YOU HAPPY WITH HOW IT TURNED OUT TO BE?
Tatu: I think we are quite satisfied. Although there's always something to improve, but I think that's what every recording bands/artists think when they listen to their own recordings. There is ALWAYS something to improve.
2. WHAT HAPPENED TO AUTERE FROM THE RELEASE OF “LINES AND FRAGMENTS” UP TO NOW?
Tatu: First of all Pete joined the group in November 2005. We have also gained some experience as a band and as individual players. And we have all sorts of cool new equipment.

Pete: I linked up whit a group, god damn!

3. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IF YOU WERE ASKED TO COMMENT ON YOUR NEW CD AND ADVERTISE IT IN A FEW WORDS?
Tatu: I would have to say “Autere has taken a step forward. If you like thrashy, aggressive metal you should definitely check us out!”

Pete: “Buy it, it´s brutally shite”

    Jussi: Mothorfock!

4. WHAT’S THE BEST AND WHAT’S THE WORST ELEMENT ON “HAVOC MONOLOGY”? WHAT ELEMENTS DO YOU THINK SET IT APART FROM OTHER SIMILAR SOUNDING RELEASES? WHY DO YOU THINK THE METAL HEADS SHOULD CHECK YOU OUT? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO OFFER TO THE SCENE?
Jussi: The best element would be good songs, catchy riffs and accuracy in the playing, and most of all, the songs work excellent in live performance.  Worst element would be that it´s done during us being drunk. All the people should check us because we are such a freak circus, and you never get bored in our company. If you do there's something wrong with you. I think that answers the whole question.
5. WHICH ARE THE SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES AMONGST YOUR THREE RELEASES? IN WHICH WAYS HAS YOUR SOUND EVOLVED?
Tatu: The similarities would be the melodic part of our music, guitar harmonies and shit. Simple and steady drum- and bass lines. The biggest difference might be the brutality of our music, which has increased quite rapidly after the first demo.
6. WHY DO YOU RELEASE EPS AND DON’T SET TO RECORD A FULL LENGTH ALBUM?
Jemmy: Because we don`t have any money! Please for a fuck's sake! Send us money so we can make same good music for the folks that love our shit! :)

Tatu: That's right. We are poor and humble people.

    Pete: Yep...

7. I READ IN YOUR BIO THAT ONE OF THE DRIVING FORCES THAT MADE YOU RECORD “HAVOC MONOLOGY” WAS ESCAPING YOUR WIVES… SO IS THIS WHY YOU PLAY RAW METAL AND YOUR SOUND IS SO EXTREME? :)))
Tatu: Wives do indeed have an effect on us and sometimes it's good to spend some time separate. We certainly give much more from ourselves when our wives aren't naggin around and begging for attention. :)
8. WHAT ARE THE MAIN TOPICS YOUR LYRICS DEAL WITH? WHICH ARE YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION? SO, WHICH IS THE TRUE FACE OF HUMAN NATURE AFTER ALL? HAVE YOU FIGURED THE ANSWER OUT?
Jemmy: I would say that the lyrical main topic in the havoc is twisted self images. All songs tell about one person, who has (for some reason) fallen into some sort of trouble within. Some people are more insane than others and that’s the source of my inspiration. True face of a human nature? Shit, that’s a tough one! I've got to say that it is “try to get some!”

    Jussi: Fuck… or be fucked.

9. I’d LIKE YOU TO DESCRIBE THE COVER ARTWORK FOR THOSE THAT HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET AND LET US KNOW WHAT’S ITS CONNECTION WITH THE LYRICS AND THE EP’S TITLE.
Jemmy: In the cover, there is a single chair in a god damn old sauna. Way I see it, the chair in the steaming room stands for a self exploration. Like, You just got to handle your problems all by yourself. You know?

Tatu: The cover art has absolutely no connection with the lyrics, title, or anything what so ever. It's just a really good photo of a sauna, which was captured by Jussi's father-in-law. After a gentle touch of Photoshop it looked so good that we decided to use it. Now that I think of it, the scene represented in the picture would be a perfect place to discharge a monology with destructional effect.

Pete: This cover picture was better than the other choice.

10. BY THE WAY, WHAT DO YOU MEAN WITH THE WORDS HAVOC MONOLOGY? IS THERE SOMETHING IN PARTICULAR YOU’D LIKE TO SUGGEST?
Jemmy: When you look in to the mirror, and you don`t like the image what you see. It is  obviously time for the havoc monology.
11. THE CD IS ALSO ENHANCED WITH A MUSIC VIDEO AND A MAKING OF… HOW HAVE YOU DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT? IT’S A REALLY PROFESSIONAL AND GREAT MOVE. GIVE US SOME INFO ON THE VIDEOS…
Tatu: In the Lines & Fragments-EP, there was also a short movie-clip which showed our hard working journey of making the EP. The video had a poor music video in it. This time we wanted to create the music video and the studio document separately and with a better quality. So I bought a decent DV-Camcorder which I had been planning for a long time (now I had a good explanation to give to my wife) and we decided to do it no matter how much work we have to put into it. Studio document is subtitled in English, so that every foreigner understands what we're going on about.

Jussi: We wanted to show everybody which kind of people are behind this music of Autere.

12. HOW DO YOU PLAN TO PROMOTE YOUR WORK? HAVE YOU GOT ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS?
Tatu: We promote our work by sending it for reviews, to record companies, promoters etc... We don't have anything special for our live shows. Just us playing our songs. Although, after the Havoc-studio session, we decided to play our songs right during a gig and not to screw up so much. So far it hasn't worked out too well... Also, the fact that we are quite repulsive, is not helping.
13. I THINK YOU’VE BEEN WRITING SOME NEW SONGS. HAVE YOU GOT ANY FINISHED? HOW WILL THEY SOUND? CAN YOU REVEAL ANYTHING ABOUT THEM OR IS IT STILL TOO EARLY?
Tatu: No, it's not too early. Whenever we get a song finished, we include it in our next setlist. The new Autere-songs continue the bashing that “Perdition” left you in.

Pete: We have better and bashing songs under development all the time.

14. IS THERE A QUESTION YOU’D LIKE TO BE ASKED AND NO ONE HAS EVER ASKED YOU SO FAR?
Tatu: Not that I know of. I'm sure there is one, but I can't seem to find one.

    Pete: What is lectica?

15. WHAT’S THE STRANGEST OR FUNNIEST INCIDENT THAT HAS OCCURRED TO THE BAND?
Tatu: I think that the strangest thing happened recently when Markus proved that he can actually go along with other human beings. Hard to imagine, but it's true.

Pete: When Tatu got a wilson (black socks) endorsement.

16. WHAT EMOTIONS DO YOU THINK YOUR MUSIC CREATES OR TRANSMITS TO YOUR LISTENERS?
Jemmy: I hope that the energy of our music creates a good aggression to our listeners!
17. HAVE YOU SENT YOUR CDS TO ANY LABELS? ARE YOU UNDER NEGOTIATION WITH ANY OF THEM? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE OFFERED IN ORDER TO SIGN A DEAL?
Jussi: Yes, we have. I wish we had a fair deal which would satisfy both us and the record company from the results. And I believe that rest of the band wishes the same.
18. THE EUROVISION SONG CONTEST WILL SOON TAKE PLACE IN FINLAND. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT IT AND ABOUT LORDI? WOULD YOU EVER DO SUCH A THING AND PARTICIPATE IN SUCH A CONTEST? HAS ANYTHING CHANGED IN FINLAND’S MUSIC INDUSTRY EVER SINCE?
    Jemmy: Generally nothing has changed.

Tatu: Eurovision contest represents possibly the worst songs ever made by man. This year's finals take place within a week and I'm glad that it's over soon, 'cause Finland will NEVER win the contest again and we don't have to put up with any half-assed song contests on our quartz-based soil. DAMN!!!

Jussi: I believe it´s some kind of a gay festival.

19. YOU COME FROM FINLAND, A COUNTRY WITH A STRONG METAL SCENE. DOES THIS MAKE THIS EASIER OR MORE DIFFICULT FOR A NEW BAND TO STAND OUT?
Tatu: The popularity of metal music these days might put a little barrier against small bands, but it's not all bad. There are so many metal-bands nowadays that it's quite easy to make contact with other bands and get your voice out all over the country, gained by the gigs provided by large amount of contacts (= other bands).
20. THANK YOU! IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO MENTION?
Tatu: Our new website (http://autereband.com) should be ready soon. Check out for updates every ones and a while. CHEERS!!!
