Allfader
Allfader is a band familiar
to this webzine since we had the chance to present their previous demo
and have an interesting interview with them. A couple of years later we
meet with this band again and find them prospering and in a great mood
for creation. Here's what we got out of our new conversation...
1. First of all congratulations on your
first album. What are the latest news from the Allfader camp?
Well, not much to report since the release
really. I've been busy doing interviews, Frode (bass) is on tour with the
regional theatre so we don't rehearse much at the moment. Once the interview
storm has settled and Frode's back home we'll start rehearsals again.
2. Finally after many demo releases you achieve
to make your debut step through Osmose Productions. Did you believe that
with three – four demos it was the right moment for you to find a deal
with a label in order to record your album?
Well, we recorded the album without any label
support. We landed the deal with Osmose after the album was finished. But
yes, the time was right for us now to unleash a debut album.
3. For those who don’t know, can you tell us
the most important moments in your career so far?
I'd have to say the recording and release
of this album. It's what we've worked for since we started out and it feels
great to finally accomplish that.
4. Which was the procedure when you wrote this
album?
Most of the songs were written home by me,
Finn or Per (or a combination of us) and recorded roughly so the rest could
get a grasp of the arrangements, and then rehearsed. Lyrics and vocals
usually come last. We wrote "Hate Is My Creed" at a rehearsal, and a couple
of other tracks were arranged and finalized with the entire band.
5. Even if you walk in the extreme paths of
metal music, you have songs with long duration and a lot of changes, do
you believe that even if you are in the death/black metal side of music,
you can still have complicated and in the same time interesting compositions?
Absolutely! Extreme songs don't have to be
short, but not necessarily long either. The songs are done when they are
done, and it’s perfectly natural for us that some tracks turn out longer
than average. I also happen to enjoy long, epic songs so I'm quite happy
that we have that in us.
6. For someone who hasn’t heard anything from
your stuff, what hints would you give them in order to help them get a
small idea of your music direction?
Throw this in the cooking pot: Death metal,
black metal, heavy metal, frantic energy, a couple of tons of steel and
burning ambition.
7. So far are you satisfied with the help from
your label?
Very much! Osmose is doing a great job, and
they really make an effort for us. The promo department is working hard,
and I have more interviews than I can shake a stick at. We couldn't be
happier.
8. What are your future plans in order to support
this album?
Hopefully we will embark on a European tour
early next years, but unfortunately I don't have any details on that yet.
Check out allfader.com or Osmose's website to keep track of our doings!
9. If I push the play button on your CD player
what I will hear?
At the moment Ved Buens Ende's album "Written
in Waters".
10. Did you have any funny moment during the
recording sessions?
Lots! We had a great time recording the album,
but most of the fun came when we weren't recording. When we were in the
studio we worked hard and determined. One funny thing which the others
remember but I don't - because I was the victim of this - was when I was
trying to sleep off a hangover and the rest of the guys tried to wake me
with salami and a German shepherd. I think someone might have that on video...but
I sort of hope not.
11. How is the reaction from the press and
then fans until now?
It's been great, just great. We have gotten
a lot of incredible reviews and the feedback from fans is amazing.
12. Thank you very much for your time and I
wish you all the best with your newest start.
Thanks for your interest! Metal up your ass!
