When I think of Megaman X3, I think of the some of the last golden hours in the Megaman Franchise's life. Games after X4 have progressively gotten worse as the series has gone on. Although Megaman X has had nine games so far, this game in my opinion, is the best one. It will likely retain this title until The series ends.
Megaman X3 appears to be the exact same as the previous two games, with a short intro, an introductory level, and 8 mavericks. This is true but the game is very unique in that you can beam Zero down to play as him in some parts of the levels. This was a very cool part of the game but is now, sadly, taken for granted as you can now be Zero in every successive Megaman X Game. Another nice part about the game is the X hunters that you have to fight. I will not tell who they are though. PLAY FOR YOURSELF AND FIND OUT! You may be, if you are a long time megaman X fan who has never played this game, surprised to see who shows up.
This Game May seem kind of short with only about three hours of gameplay, but unlike most games, it is fully loaded. Virtually every part of every level has lots of enemies, items and challenges. What I mean is that all three megabytes of this game are used up in a very short period of time. There is no messing around. You get into the fighting right away as opposed to a game like final fantasy, that is not packed tight, but very long. In addition to loaded gameplay, there is good replay value and various items that you may want to go back and get because you missed them the first time that you played the game.
Another great part of the game (this goes for all Megaman games) is the music. X3 has average Megaman X music, but that isn't a bad thing. X3 features some of the best sounds that I have heard on the SNES. Even though the songs are only MIDIs, it still adds a great atmosphere to the game. in fact, every once in a while I'll turn on the game just to listen to these great tunes.
If you are new to Megaman Games, they are harder than the average game. X3 is definitely no exception. It is one of the hardest Megaman games to date. Don't worry though! Almost all of the Megaman X games have very similar controlls. So say if you get good at the original Megaman X game in mastering the dash and the buster charge, you should not have as much trouble with more difficult games like Megaman X3. After you have played this game for about an hour, you probably will have gotten used to the more-difficult-than-average play controls.
Once you get the controls down, the controls seem great and are a great deal of of fun to use. That's good because you will have to use the contols to get power up items. Moves such as the various dashes are interesting o use because you have to use these moves to the max.
You will not go wrong with buying this game. However, you may find it wise to look for it on eBay or Amazon. The reason for this is the extreme overpriceness in stores. The last time I saw X3 on sale at gamestop, it was $150. On eBay you may be fortunate to find a decently priced Megaman X3 Game, but it is definitely worth a try.
