June 8, 2004 - THE LAST TIME Venus crossed the Sun's path was in 1882; but on June 8, 2004, skywatchers were able to witness this rare event after 122 years.  The event was best viewed from Europe, but parts of America and most of Asia and Aftica were privileged to see it, if the weather permitted.

According to Joe Rao of Space.com, "This is among the rarest events in astronomical history."  Between 2000BC and 4000AC, there have only been 81 Venesian transits.  It has also only been recorded 5 times by humans.  Transits occured on Dec. 9, 1847,
