| This photo was taken the last day of the recovery effort. It was not too surprising to see people from different government agencies taking time from their assigned work, touring the "safe" areas of the crash site, to reflect, and take pictures to help remember the site, prior to any change that would take place after the area would become a monument. My hope is that it stays the same as it did the day of the crash. It was a very humble place. | |||||||||||

| Just a slight turn to the south from the location of the plaque above is the actual crash site. The crash site appeared just like it did on TV the day of the crash. Being at the site in person was very sureal. This picture shows the final preparation of "the pit" where the plane entered the ground. The small white truck in the right of the frame was a crew that started to build two perimeters of chain link fence to keep people out. Someone this day told me that they figured that it took 1.5 seconds upon impact from the nose to the tail of the airplane. Most of the evidence of the crash was buried, and had to be recovered via forensic "sifting". The scorched trees along the perimeter of the woods is the only real outward sign of the crash. |
