Applications may be obtained from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions or from a Maryland community college. The application deadline for 2007 is March 31, 2007. Students who are

The Distinguished Scholar Community College Transfer Program is designed to identify Maryland students who attend Maryland community colleges and provide a transfer scholarship incentive for them to enroll in a Maryland 4-year college or university as a full-time undergraduate student. The amount of the scholarship is $3,000 per academic year. The scholarship may be applied to tuition, mandatory fees, room, board,
books, and supplies. The award is in addition to any other State scholarships that may be offered to the student. This award is renewable for one additional year provided that the recipient continues to meet all eligibility requirements and maintains an annual 3.0 grade average for each academic year. Information is available at http://www.mhec.state.md.us.  The application deadline for 2007 is March 1, 2007.

The Jack Kent Cooke  Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program each year awards approximately 30 scholarships to students attending community colleges or two-year institutions and planning to transfer to four-year institutions.  Each award covers a portion of educational expenses, including tuition, living expenses, required fees, and books for the final two to three years of the baccalaureate degree. The amount and duration of awards vary by student based on the cost of attendance and the length of the program as well as other scholarships or grants received.  The maximum available per student is $30,000 per year.  This is the largest scholarship offered in the US to community college transfer students.  Students interested in this scholarship
must be nominated by their community college.  Students may not apply directly to the Foundation for this program.  The FCC application deadline for the 2007 competition is January 5, 2007.  The Jack Kent
Cooke Scholarship information is available at www.jackkentcookefoundation.org.  Students interested in this
