Virginia Martinez is very beautiful, simple and honest woman. She works as governess at Rodrigo Junquera's mansion. The children of this man are: Junior, Carlos Alberto, Raquel, Violeta, Aldo and Memo. Carlos Alberto loves Virginia, without thinking about anything seriously. But Virginia loves him sincerely. Rodrigo Junquera wasted his fortune and besides, he discovered the fact that he endures a mortal disease. Rodrigo thinks that his children can't prepare for his death. They can't live without help of his father. Rodrigo thinks that Virginia will help them after his death. So, he marries on her. But Raquel, Violeta and Junior don't like Virginia.

Sagrario, the servient of Junquera's mansion, entered in the family with a great secret. She always helps Rodrigo and tells him all her secrets. Later it became known, that she was a mother of Junior. Junior tempted the servant Lupita. Subsequently, she will wait from him the child. Raquel, eternally dissatisfied and self-confident, serenly and blindly loves the man who is younger than she. Violeta, beautiful, but the closed girl, suffers mental frustration. Aldo, unsociable young man, platonically likes Virginia.

Anabella, the daughter of Maximilliana and Alirio Roldan - the friends of family Junquera, "loves" Carlos Alberto. But she has a capricious character, and she doesn't really love him. Maximiliana helps her to take hold of his heart. Alirio is against the relation of the daughter with the Rodrigo's son. Danilo Roldan, the cynical and the cruel man, the major son of Maximiliana and Alirio, is keen on Virginia, and therefore, he became the rival of Carlos Alberto.

When poor don Rodrigo died, the children became to detest Virginia more. Carlos Alberto became more serious and rigid, Raquel has got confused in her feelings, Junior has got in the dirty affairs, Violeta has finally become reserved and become the invalid, Memito suffers because of death of the father. Virginia vainly tries to resolve problems between brothers and sisters Junquera, having forgotten about her problems. Far from noisy Mexico, in Veracruz, at the sea coast, there is a woman alike physically that Virginia. Her name is Vanessa. Later it became known, that she was a sister-twin of Virginia...
