DJ CRAZE  DJ CRAZE   DJ CRAZE

:) The crowd was elctrified by the sounds of scratches. Miami witnessed eight DJ's from all over (N. Carolina, NY, Puerto Rico, Orlando, and Miami). The DMC Battle was in progress, this was the very beginning of Pro Am '98, and by the end of the night Miami would once again rise to the creme of the crop. On stage a very proficient panel of judges RSC (orginoo Rock Steady Members and DJ Kool Herc (the bricklayer of the art. The crowd on the otherhand  was yelling out names of personal favorites.. the most common by general consensus was Nigaraguan-born Miami-bred DJ Craze created a skillyfully electric maze, but once again Miami was fucked wit'. DJ Exotic rose to the turntables in the finals and lashed out against Craze, creating an instrumental vendetta (I guess he wanted audience attention and a few "sunshine" poinmts). Craze amidst crowd reactions played it cool, and when it was his turn, he slowly walked to his two devilish hellbreakers. The counterattack started with comments about his superior skillz, then Craze finished the saga by attacking the lackey DJ  with a crack of the whip about his mother (lets just say Craze said her neck wasn't to stable whe she eats!-ouch).Simultaneously expressions of impressionism went across the RSC's faces. After the insult was over, Craze's victory filled the room faster than the cigarette smoke. A few week's after the event I had a opportunity to chat with Craze, at his Miami home. Since this has been written Craze has become a two time World DMC Champ. Congrats.

<<<Representing the World With Two Music Powerhouses>>>

Don't MESS with THIS !
             Craze vs.

1. What was the feeling you had when you walked up to the turntables in Miami?
C: Revenge, Revenge... Nuttin' but revenge.
2.  Prior to the competition, had you heard of any of the other DJ's?
C:  Yeah, 3 were like my boys, and I had heard of Exotic from way back.
3.  How long have you been a turntablist?
C;  6 years.
4.  Who turned you on to it?
C: Q-bert, Mixmaster Mike, and Coldcut.
5.  I know you entered last year's competition, what happened there?
C:  My needles skipped in the national battle, and I lost. It was so bullshit because everybody knew I had won... but just because my needles were skipping I lost.
6.  All the Floridians always embrace you, so I guess the question is, are you originally from Florida?
C: Naw, I'm Nicaraguan, but I came to Flrida when I was five.
7.  What was up with all the Zulu Nation support?
C:  I'm not a Zulu, but I'm a two time Zulu Nation Champ, so I guess they kinda' adopted me into the fam, and made me an honorary Zulu or some shit.
8.  In a brief statement what are your contributions to hip hop?
C:  I'm tryin' to bring it to that other level, cause right now it's boring.  I'm experimenting with crazy-weird type shit, like turntable music.
9.  Do your parents support you?
C:  Fully now, before they were like we don't see no money. Now they're like we always had faith in him.

10. Why the DJ/Mother cutup?
Honestly, he was stupid, cause he knew I could beat him, there's no way he didn't know it, and he tried me anyway.  That's like picking on a bully... Right come fuck me up?
11.  Are you into any other hip hop elements?\
C: Yeah, all, but I can't do them. I just DJ.
12.  I did an article in this month's issue called the demise of the DJ  on how DJ's simply play music-can you comment on that?
C:  There's a whole mess of DJs 9club, turntablists, radio, and party). Of course your club DJ is gonna play Puffy and DMX 50 times. Me personally, I don't give a fuck... I just go in there and scratch. I don't rag on them because there good at what they do, I'm a good club DJ, but you won't catch me on the mike.
13.  What DJs do you feel are keepin' it real in the game?
C:  All, because they are doing their thing.  Turntablists I feel are like the military DJs, their the phatter DJs. The club DJs are mostly in it for the money, because they know the shit their playin' is wack, but they don't care, cause it's all about the dolar bill.
14.  How would you describe your style, the Old School Flava or more millenium type shit?
C:  Defintely the next millenium... the future generation.
15.  How do you feel to be representin' a state with a booty image?
C:  I kinda' like it, because I get more respect from up North, because they see me coming phat from a state that appears to be nothing.
