Jai is classed as a Mystical Creature in the InterCity Records...he is a shapeshifter, his two forms being of a Dark Elf, the other a Golden Sand Dragon. He is classed as a Dark Elf, not because of a darkened skin tone like Drow and other Dark Elves...but genetic specifications were most similar to this racial definition. He has always been strong, but in somewhat classic Dark Elf style his personality has altered. While he does not suffer the rapid and violent mood swings of others like him, he has gone from an easygoing defender of the peace to what some might call a mindless fighting machine. The latter is not entirely true. While he is strong, trains hard, and indeed, fights well, he is not mindless. One thing that remains constant throughout the changes in his life is his ability to think a situation through, more often than not coming up with the most efficient, and usually, bloodless way to achieve something. |
After spending all his known life in the desert, he chose to enter the Inter City, looking for something new to do. His past is not well known, not to him, not to anyone.
When he first entered the city, he helped to stop a fight near the pub. Dispatching a small band of street punks fairly quickly, those witnessing the event made offers to hire him on as private security. He took up security work as a job and became a bouncer.
After it was established that his personal goal was to defend the people, he met up with wander of the well-known Guardians gang. He was as close to happy there as he ever had been but somewhat unsatisfied. Even the honor of becoming one of the Guardian "swords", a higher ranking within the Guardians, could not fulfil the unrest in his mind.
Meanwhile, a new figure had arrived on the scene, General Dowd of the Inter City Military. He was making drastic moves to bring the city back under control, for it had been unruly and gang-controlled for far too long. The ideals appealed to Jai.
Wilkinson turned his Guardian blade over to wander and simply stated he was joining the military, leaving her crying in her husbands arms at the loss to her gang, but by this time, other people's feelings and opinions had lost all value to him.
There was a short period of 'limbo' for him while Dowd found a profession for Jai. He did not think someone of Jai's ability should be put into Infantry, but he did not drive well enough for cavalry. It was decided he would lead the Infantry and the rank of Leiutenant was bestowed upon him.
He had been serving only a few weeks when he heard of the "Ultimate Soldier Project" and investigated further with his new authority.
He noted the information regarding Dark Elves and compared it to his own past and the changes within himself during his time in the City and made some notes, thinking things over for a day or two.
It eventually occured to him that he must be the offspring of the original experiments, and somehow, despite the flaws in the original attempts, somewhere along the genetic line things altered and produced Jace... who seems to be dangerously close to what the military originally intended.
Despite the experiments and what he is or could be, Bror lost all sense of whether or not he should care... only considering the duty before him.
Even Military service repulsed him eventually. He left, and became a hacker. He isn't sure exactly why he did this, but had a craving for information, one only the illigetimate contacts of the undernet could provide him.
On the evening of Monday the 20th of August, an assassins bullet found it's mark in his left temple and scrambled his brains beyond the damage inflicted thus far. His self-control slipped away, leaving him in a constant state of hallucinations, unsure of the reality of anything anymore he generally ignores the opinions of those around him that may or may not exist.
Existence only exists because people see it, and what Bror Jace sees, therefore his existence has become disturbing, warped.
Eventually his mind seemed to regather itself, not 100%, but enough to give him moments of lucidity. He hears and reads about the entire "frog" saga, but dismisses it, sometimes violently silencing those who bring it up in conversation.
The plain fact is, his mind and personal morale were shattered.
At other times when he couldn't hide from society, he lashes out. Swift mood swings, violent responses and stages of depressing malevolence to people in general all part of his decision to keep people away from him at all costs, lest someone slip past the mental barriers he's erected for himself and hurt him.
People, in his eyes at the time, are twisted and cruel people, who all bring pain to other people one way or another, through emotional heartache, or by destroying each other in pointless battles.
Love is a lie invented to trick people into having sex, family is something people deal with by betraying, friends are pawns of Fate programmed to get close and tear away a peace of a persons soul. Life sucks, people are evil, and the best way to deal with life and the people in it is to be a complete asshole so they just don't fuck with you.
This philosophy held true 9 times out of 10, but Jai eventually felt more and more inclined to come out of his shell, interact with people. While most are irritating, obnoxious, selfish braggarts, some conversations prove interesting enough to tolerate, particularly those with the Pub's favourite bartender, Kip Grey. Philosophical discussions into hypothetical situations passed away the time, which is easier to endure than watching people sit around getting drunk, to the extent that Jai was in severe danger of enjoying himself.
Perhaps more than just enjoying himself socially, while he lacks a deep understanding of what most people flippantly and sometimes callously call 'love', he's becoming more attracted to Kip, seeking her company, close company, more than any other person he's known. To Jai, appearances an opinions have lost all value, and Kip physically fills a gap in his life he never knew was missing.
On one fateful night, Kip fell prey to gunweilding attackers and spent several weeks, or perhaps even months in a coma. Jai had become aware of another who vied for Kip's attentions, Kaneda Takemura, and was disheartened by his seeming lack of emotion and took the role of her guardian, using his silent status as a member of the Slayer's Syndicate to bypass the rules and pass the nights maintaining a loyal vigil at her beside, until she eventually awoke.
Unfortunately her trip to the brink of death had left her completely blind. After the initial shock, and Jai's promise to stay by her side, he moved in with her, then they eventually left the city together.
While Kip has not "recovered", her and Jai have come to terms with her blindness, and live happily in the Wildlands, free from the bustle and violence of the City.
