| This model of the high aspect ratio high altitude version of the Focke Wulf TA152 was added to my site on 11.10.2000. A few hints on building this model-You have a few options on how you go about making up this flying model,if you want to make it as a traditional card model then simply print it onto thin card then cut out the parts with either a sharp knife or nail scissors, curve the wings by rolling gently over a piece of sorbo rubber with a rolling pin, join them at the centre section using the piece provided, bend in a few degrees of dihedral and slot through the portion marked with two "x" tack into place with a touch of adhesive (uhu suggested),better flying can be achieved by introducing a few degrees of upward twist into the top surfaces of the wingtips this is called washout and prevents the model from tip stalling in flight,it is well worth introducing this into the model, try it and see the difference |

| Continue the construction by slotting the tailplane into place and tacking with a spot of adhesive . If you want a lovely lightweight model that really flies well then attach the paper printout to balsa wood (bundles of offcuts are cheap and ideal for this job) cut out the parts and assemble with balsa cement or cyano adhesive (supervision required if being used by children) another idea which is worth considering is to use thin insulation foam obtainable from DIY stores in large rolls sufficent to make hundreds of models! stick the paper pattern onto this with suitable adhesive such as thinned down PVA adhesive and roll over using the rolling pin to get rid of air bubbles, take care which adhesive you use on foam as some melt the foam,so be warned! FLYING-Fly indoors or out, first of all balance the model just slightly aft of the wingtip leading edge and add modelling clay to the nose, try for a flat glide and adjust elevator up or down to trim out-Happy flying Barry! |
