Okay. So I have here this little $2.99 sampler disc from 1997. Aha! But this is nice! All of the tracks listed in red (versus black) are previously unreleased! That's right, folks. When I picked this up buried in the back at a Christian bookstore and smuggled it out past the attentive store personnel, I became privy to new sounds. Well, not the first three tracks. . .but the fourth is a previously unreleased demo! By Squad Five-O! And it sucks! Really bad! And! Half of the twenty tracks (that's ten) are previously unreleased!
And the collection is called Afters. The implication is leftovers. And that's rather appropriate.
Best tracks: Speck has some nice contributions, particularly the song Mercy. Then there's some nice My Friend Stephanie later on. And Age of Faith. Oh, and Johnny Respect is on here and my brother goes to school with this kid who plays guitar for Johnny Respect. And that's all I have to say.
Bad tracks are abundant. It's like. . .man, I hate Squad Five-O. Plus, several of the others, but MAN I HATE SQUAD FIVE-O. They annoy me to no end. Let's rise up and kill them. Not really. Don't sue me. Or arrest me. Please.
Anyway. Let's wrap it up. Don't rush to eBay to buy this record. Please, don't. Of the ten "previously unreleased" tracks, seven have since been released. The three that weren't. . .well, one is Squad Five-O. So it's not worth it. If you jam to any of the good bands, go just buy the record. This is a cheap sampler, I know, but it's also a waste of time.
