Polish American Political Club
Minutes for the Board Meeting July 7, 2002

10:06 AM Meeting Called to Order.

Minutes.

The Recording Secretary was unable to read the minutes
from the previous meeting because a copy was not available.

Communications.

We received a Thank-You card from scholarship recipient Joanna M.

Membership Report:

Fourteen (14) new applications for membership were reviewed during this meeting. When the meeting was adjourned the Executive Board and the Membership Chairman met to vote on the applications. All fourteen (14) were accepted.

Gary R. and Kevin S. were absent from the meeting.

Report of the Committees

A discussion was held concerning work to be done in the future. The Ansul system is now installed in the kitchen. The next priority will be the bathroom. The air conditioning system for the bar has been determined to be under-sized for the application. Approximate cost for a new unit is $ 4500.00.

We need volunteers to help sand, prime, and paint the window trim on the outside of the club. Please contact Gary W. if you are willing to help.

We also need volunteers to cut the grass, sweep up and clean up around the outside of the building.

Volunteers have been in short supply recently. Please consider helping out!

Unfinished Business:

The PAPC window stickers are complete and are available at the bar for $1.00. There are six different choices of inside and outside stickers in red, white, and black.

New Business:

A motion was made, seconded and accepted to provide an additional $100.00 to Bill B. for the Quad Racing Team. Two trophies were presented to the club and are now on display.

A discussion was held on the subject of absences for club officers. At this point no more than three unexcused absences are allowed before an officer is asked to step down. Excused vs. un-excused absences were discussed. Any change in the policy would require a Constitutional revision. This issue will be researched and discussed at the next meeting.

Treasurer's Report.

The Treasurer’s report was submitted and accepted by all.

There were 13 hall rentals last month.

Money is starting to free up because the bar business has been good. However, taxes and higher insurance costs have increased our expenses significantly. We are also not collecting rent from one of the apartments at the old building.

Good & Welfare:

Steak Dinners have been suspended for the summer. We now have Seafood Night on Thursdays. Shrimp, clams on the half-shell, oysters, steamers, and chowder are available in the bar. Lobsters are also available by special order.

The Annual PAPC Outing is scheduled for Saturday, August 10th. The band will be Route 66. Tickets are available at the bar. We need volunteers to help out as always.

A bus trip to Fenway Park is scheduled for a 5:00 PM game, Saturday, September 7th  A Sign up sheet is posted. The trip must be paid for in full at the time of sign up.

A shot and a beer to all who attended this meeting.
