| In order to explain what is a portfolio, It must be first explained why is there a need of a portfolio. Every engineer wants to be able to find what are his daily tasks very quickly, how good is the work that he is doing, at what stage is his current project etc. One of the best ways to do all the above without getting too much tired is to summarize them in paper form and put them togehter in a portfolio. An engineer needs a portfolio for the following reasons: - To maintain a daily schedule of the things we is supposed to do in his working area, so that he can be always come up to his employer's expectations. - To put evidence of his work in it, so that a potential employer can spot all his skills. - To be able to observe his tasks. - To have all his work summarized. So the meaning of a portfolio (according to my opinion always) is in simple words: The folder that contains all the above. At this point it must be mentioned that what goes in a portfolio is clearly in the judgement of the owner of the portfolio. |
