Watch the Tutorial. On a new Mission, make sure the first thing you do is look at the map. Use R1/L1 - R2/L2 to zoom in and out and get a feel of the lay of the land. Refer to the map continuously for the remainder of the Mission. Once you have studied the map and know how that works, test your controlable buddies. Learn the best way to move them, speeds, formations (and lack of control), firing positions and get used to updating them with new orders every time an enemy is spotted. When directing your Blue buddies, ensure that the route you map avoids any obstacles. The formation commands are really only effective over open ground, but directing your buddies is always better. Select the correct shell type to engage your targets use RCPR shells as a basic setting for armour fights. Get to any available cover as soon as you can along with moving your buddy tanks to cover your field of fire. Use the Search map option frequently. Always try to present your tanks frontal armour to the direction of the enemy instead of traversing the turret. You may be able to sustian direct hits to your tank at shorter ranges by doing this. Use neutral turns to do this. It's often much faster than traversing the turret anyway. The neutral turn is performed by pressing R1/L2 or R2/L1. Direct the fire of your blue tanks precisely by making full use of the "Fire Point" option. When in Gun sight mode, use Square/Triangle to increase/decrease the range. Preset the range to 600-1000 at the start of the mission. When engaging with enemy tanks try to make sure you don't have to go over hills or dips, this makes it so the enemy is out of your gun movement, but you're not out of theirs! This also applies to going round obsticles, should the front of your tank creep round a building (especially side on to the enemy)be prepared to take some hits before you can get forward enough to fire back, if you're still alive. Be quick! If you move into a position where you start taking a lot of incoming fire, don't be afraid to reverse off and try another route, rather than trying to slug it out. Red X's on the map indicate knocked out fire points/bunkers. Don't worry about taking on enemy infantry, they can't do you any harm and you need to concentrate on the tanks! Infantry units relay your position though, if they know where you are, so do their tanks. Areas on the map which you can not drive through you generally can not fire through i.e buildings. However, a well positioned shot through a hedge or tree can knock out the enemy before they even knew you existed. Don't be afraid to try unusual shots. (don't waste all your ammo though!) |
