Panzer Front is a World War 2 based game for the Playstation, and Dreamcast. It is unique for a console game in that it seemlessly blends strategy and action.
The game allows you to take control of more than 40 tanks, of which all but 6 are authentic 2nd World War models.
The game also covers both the Eastern front, and the Western front in over 25 missions. Allowing the player to take control of British, American, Canadian, Soviet, or German forces.
The missions are all based on genuine battles, the backgrounds of which have been researched and are detailed here on this site.
It is a very immersive game, that truly draws you in. The AI is impressive with tanks behaving as a 60 ton metal monster should! As well as controling your own tank, you can also give commands to other friendly units, which include artilleryand aircraft.
Panzer front was released in 2001, and the chances of picking it up second hand are good! It has been consistently well reviewed. Official Playstation Magazine gave it 9/10.
It's sequel Panzer Front Bis has been released in Japan, and that also has a mission editor feature. This game has also been well reviewed.
For a truly entertaining, and authentic experience it has to be Panzer Front, because quality and skill win through, and as in real life, one shot can kill!
