"Enemy tank, captured in the fighting in the region of the Workers settlement No 5."
18 January 1943 Poselok No 5

On the 12th of January operation "Iskra (Sparkle)" was on the Leningrad and Volkhov fronts.  The objective of the offensive was to push the German 18th Army out of the Shlisselburg-Mga salient and by doing so reopen a supply line to the besieged city of Lenningrad.  After six days of continous fighting the 67th Army from the west and the 2nd Shock Army from the east met at Poselok (Worker Settlement) Number 5.  With the meeting of the two fronts the blockage of Leningrad was broken but it would be a year later, 27 January 1944, before the seige would be completely lifted.

Poselok Number 5 lies 20km north of the city of Mga and 10km east of the city of Kirovsk.  Poselok Number 5 housed workers for the Krivsk mining complex and on the map in Panzer Front, pits and pyramid shaped slag heaps can be found to the east of the settlement.

In Panzer Front the player commands a platoon of T34 tanks from the 220th Tank Brigade of the 67th Army, part of the Leningrad forces.  The player's objective is to combine with the 2nd Stike Army from the Volkhov front and capture Poselok No 5.
