Definitions
AP - (Armour Piercing) A solid steel shot/shell that penetrates the armour using the force of the impact (Kinetic Energy).

APBC - (Armour Piercing Ballistic Capped) A flat nosed AP round with a cap added to the front to improve the aerodynamics. Not used in Panzer Front.

APC - (Armour Piercing Capped) A solid steel round with a soft metal cap added to distribute the force of the initial impact with the armoured surfaced. The cap reduced the chances of the shot/shell shattering or bouncing if it strikes sloped armour. Not used in Panzer Front.

APCBC - (Armour Piercing Capped Ballistic Capped) An APC round with a streamlined cover placed over the front to improve the aerodynamics of the shot/shell. APCBC gives slightly better penetration at all ranges than AP. These rounds are your standard AP rounds in Panzer Front and offer good penetration at all ranges. The US referred to APCBC as APC

APCR - (Armour Piercing Composite Rigid) A light weight high-velocity round with a tungsten core to stop it shattering. This round is superior to normal AP rounds at close range but not at a distance

APCNR - (Armour Piercing Composite Non-Rigid) Designed for use in a Tapered (‘Squeeze’) Bore Gun, This round consists of a Tungsten core with light metal skirts around it. As the round passes down the barrel, the skirts are squeezed in around the body so the round comes out smaller than it went in. APCNR has amazing penetration but is difficult to make and burns out barrels quickly. Not used in Panzer Front.

APDS - (Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot) A small calibre tungsten core in a sabot that falls away when the round leaves the barrel. This has the best penetration of any round irrespective of range. The ultimate choice in AP rounds, this is available only on the British Sherman Firefly.

HEAT - (High Explosive Anti Tank) An Explosive round which concentrates the force of the explosion into a narrow jet and burns a hole through armour. It has the same penetration irrespective of range but can easily be defeated by stand-off armour.

ÁÐ - (ÁÐÎÍÅÁÎÉÍÛÉ) Armour piercing.

Ô - (ÔÓÃÀÑÍÛÉ) High explosive.

HVAP - (Hyper Velocity Armour Piercing) The American name for the APCR shell.

Nbgr - (Nebelgranate) Smoke Shell.

Î - (ÎÑÊÎËÎ×ÍÛÉ) Fragmentation.

Pzgr - (Panzergranate) Armour Piercing Shell.

Sprgr - (Sprenggranate) High Explosive Shell.

SVDS - (Super Velocity Discarding Sabot) The British name for the APDS shell.

Note All Kinetically penetrating Armour Piecing rounds without a tungsten core can be made as either shot or shell. Shot’s are solid except for a tiny hole in the end for a tracer plug. Shell’s have a much larger hole with an explosive charge, fuse and tracer plug in that order. Shot has better penetration but Shell’s are more destructive. All British designed AP was shot (AP, APC, APCBC shot). Germany and America used shells (called APHE, APCHE, APCBCHE or simply AP, APC, APCBC shells) and the Russians used a mixture of each.
