PERSONAL PAINT SCHEME WALK THROUGH
The first window gives you two options.
The top line is: Edit Markings
The second line is: Copy Markings

Since we want to draw some fake batle damage on the turret of a Panther, we'll choose the top option.

1) We're in the Markings Editor Workshop now and the first thing we notice is that the tank displayed is a Panzer Mk 3. We want a Panther so lets select one.

The
triangle button moves us from window to window.
The 'D' pad allows us to move around in a window.
The
circle button works as a 'select' button.

Using the
triangle flick from window to window until the top left box (the toolbox) is chosen. (That's the one with all the wierd icons in it.)
Now use the 'D' pad to go to the little yellow tank button. Hit the
circle button. The tank select window has now popped up and we can scroll down and select our Panther.

2) Using the
triangle again, select the lower middle box. (The one saying "Picture 1").  By using the 'D'pad again we can scroll through the 16 different options available.
These are:
1-3 palettes to play with
4 Soviet red star
5-8 Soviet slogans
1-2 German crosses and tactical numbers
3-4 Soviet stars and tactical numbers
5-6 German winter crosses and tac numbers
7-8 Soviet winter stars and tac numbers.

Let's pick palette 1.

3) As much as we love Enterbrain, we don't want them being advertised on the side of our Panther, so
triangle back to the toolbox and select 'CLR'. Hit circle buton. Up pops a window asking us to confirm that we want to clear the palette. (This clears the ENTIRE palette, so if you are doing the third colour on your design, select 'NO') In this case we want to clear it so we select 'YES'.

4) Now let's use the
triangle button to move us to the top centre panel. Because we want to make a fake shell hole we choose the icon on the right. That should look like a bloody great hole!

5)
Triangle button again will now take us to the centre panel: the colour palette. There are four colours which are ready to use. The blank one on the left is an eraser we can use to repair any mistakes we might make.
Since a red, white or panzer grey hole will definately not look convincing, choose a colour and hit the
circle button. A selector of the three primary colours, each with a slide control, has appeared. Toggle all the slides down to zero and hey presto: We have black to work with!

6)
Triangle time again. This time we go to the toolbox window and select the pencil thingy on the top left. Select it with the circle button and we notice that the cursor in the palette in flashing. Move it around with the 'D' pad to where we want to scribe our shell hole, hit circle and there it is. Notice that the image is repeated on the side of the Panther.

7) Oops! There is another fake shell hole where the cursor was when we selected the pencil thingy. No worries! Move the cursor to cover the offending spot.
Triangle across to colour selector and choose the eraser (you know, the colour on the left). Triangle to the pencil again. Select, and the offending spot has been erased.

8) There is an open window icon in the lower right of the toolbox. Select it. A pop up window is asking if we want to leave. Choose 'YES'. The
X button will take us back to the mission design main window. When we save the mission the new markings will be saved along with it.

9) For two colour patterns, do your first colour, save it and then go back and select your next colour. Remember that there are only three colours available to use as well as the eraser.

10) Always watch how your markings look on the vehicle rather than on the palette. The view can distort and some horizontal lines don't show up at all. If that happens, just try another line a little higher or lower.

11) Remember to move the cursor to the position you want to start drawing your next colour before you select the pencil thingy. That way you avoid putting little dots of the wrong colour in the wrong place.

12) The three primary colours and their slide controls allow any colour you fancy to be duplicated. Light grey with little bits of white can even produce a fair impression of silver.

13) This has been only a basic walkthrough. Have fun with it! Experiment!

TRANSFERRING PERSONAL PAINT SCHEMES WALK THROUGH
Okay! Someone else has done some lovely markings and you'd like to use them. Rather than draw them up again, you can copy them from one mission to another.

I drew a star of David for Sabrejack to use in his Israeli mission(s?). Its on a copy of 'Aachen round 1' which he will receive soon.

1) When he receives it he can put the memcard with 'Golan 64' in one memory card port and the card with 'Aachen round 1' in the other.

2) He will then open the mission editor and select 'Golan 64'.

3) Next he'll go to the window no.2 and select the Personal Paint Schemes window, and use the lower option (transfer markings).

4) This will open another 'access mission' window. He'll select memory card slot 2, and choose 'Aachen round 1'.

5) When he leaves the Personal Paint Schemes window and goes to the settings of the 'blues' in Golan, he can add the star of David to all his Israeli tanks!

Please feel free to download any of the markings which I have drawn for your missions if you like them.

Remember:
- Open the mission you wish to import markings into.
- Access the Paint Scheme window and select the lower option in the first window.
- Then choose the mission you wish to import the markings from.
