ABOUT ME: for the astute observer, my name would appear to be Jared... for the rest of you, my name is Hugh Jass. I'm 20 y/o and attend the illustrious Brock Universtiy... ok, who are we kidding, this place is the best party school there is... I was born at St. Michael's in Toronto, Canada but I now live in St. Catharines. I am currently 6'4" tall and have an athletic build.
SPORTS: I am madly in love with the sport of rowing. I used to row for the Durham Rowing Club and have attained the status of "resident stroke". I stroke the eight (8+), the quad (4x-), the four (4+), the double (2x-) and the pair (2-). Even though I stroke (and therefore row port) I am also capable of rowing starboard without much sacrifice to performance. I feel that sculling (rowing with two oars) is much more fun than sweeping (rowing with only one oar) because it is more of a challenge and it gives a better workout. This past autumn i was on the Brock University Varsity team but chose not to stay on due to acecemic pressure.
MUSIC: one word sums it up... RAVE! I have been listening to rave for about seven years now (late ?93) but I?ve only been active in the scene for about three years. Having it deemed ?socially unacceptable?, I started off listening to whatever I could get my hands on (mostly oldschool jungle and house/techno mix). Many factors got me started on listening to rave. At the time, rap was the big thing... I despised it (and I still do)! I was also getting mighty sick of rock. Don?t get me wrong here, rock (namely alternative) was starting to mature into a really nice style, but the sheer monotony of every other song being either The Rolling Stones, AC/DC (among other dinosaur rock bands) and Nirvana was driving me nuts. One of my friends lent me a rave tape of his and I loved it so much, I literally played the tape to death. A personal thanks to DJ Dominik ;) I gathered a few more tapes of the oldschool/ house/ jungle styles until my first rave. The summer before the rave, I discovered a new style of rave called trance. I listened to it in private for a month (in that little of a time I knew this was the genre for me!) then I shared it with my friend and he liked it too. A few days before the rave, I read a tape review in a syndicated Toronto Subculture magazine about a DJ named DJ S4. I bought one of his tapes at the rave and three years later he is still my favorite DJ!! He mixes the hardest trance I've ever heard... I rate his music in the range of perfection. As of right now, I co-own a set of Technics turntables with my friend and between us we have a collection of about 70 records. In my free time, I spin HARDHOUSE and HARDTRANCE music. My djing name is "FAUST"... keep your eyes peeled, I might have a tape out in a year or two!
FUTURE CAREER: When I was about 8 years old, my dad brought home a book on fighter jets. I read the book and got a basic understanding of the way flight works and the different features that could be used. Never having drawn a airplane in collective memory, I sketched one of my own design. I was so proud of the picture and everyone loved it, so I naturally grew an affinity for jets. To date, I have filled a large binder, two spiral bound note books and half of an artist?s sketch book filled with my own designs, drawings and original concepts. Burt Rutan is my aviation hero as is the whole team of the AVRO ARROW design crew. I am totally obsessed with the AVRO ARROW!!! Ask me anything! The only question I can't answer with fact is why they canceled it... I can only give an educated speculation.

BOOKS: I love to read! I read anything excluding lawyer/legal books, romance novels and "pop literature". My favorite book is Sphere by Michael Crichton... now, you might be thinking... "but is that not pop lit?"... my answer; NO. Well, not at least when I read it! I read it a good 5-6 years before the movie so it was pretty unknown. Other books destroyed by movies (all books were read WAY before!!) include "the 13th warrior" (book: "Eaters of the Dead" by Michael C), The Green Mile and a few others I can't think of right now. I love SCI-FI and a bit of fantasy is good. I love Shakespeare though!!!!
MOVIES: favorites include... THE MATRIX!!!! Starwars 1,2,3... Startrek the voyage home, 12 Monkeys, 7, Screamers, She?s All That,
GAMES: hehehehehe.... ask me to play and I'll never say no!! I love Monopoly, Chess, Risk, Scrabble, Axis and Allies... my favorite computer games include Diablo 1, 2 and Half-life.
