| Leading the way this year for Marquette were senior Cordell Henry and red shirt freshman Dwayne Wade. Wade led the scoring averaging 17.8 ppg. Henry was right behind averaging 15.2 ppg. Wade also led in assists with 110 assists. Henry was a close second with 107 assists. Wade led the team in rebounding also with 6.8 rpg. Odartey Blankson grabbed 6.2 rpg. Wade was also the leader in blocks with 36, and he led the team in steals with 79. First year coach Tom Creen won Conference USA coach od the year. Dewayne Wade won college newcomer of the year and he was named as a second team all-American. The Golden Eagles went to the NCAA tournament as a fifth seed. They lost a heart-breaker on a last second layup to Tulsa. |
