| The Badgers had a surprising season this year. They were picked to finish near the bottom of the Big Ten. However, they shared the Big Ten title with Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio State. They went to the NCAA tournament as an eight seed, and they won their first round game against St. John's (80-70). They lost their next game to the future tournament champions Maryland (87-57). The Badgers first year coach, Bo Ryan, won the Big Ten coach of the year. One of the best surprises this year was Badger freshman Devin Harris. He was secon in the team in scoring at 12.3 ppg behind junior Kirk Penny who had 15.1 ppg. Senior Charlie Wills finished his career at Wisconsin averaging 10.2 ppg. Another nice freshman surprise was center/forward Mike Wilkinson who lead the team in rebounding at 5.3 rpg. |
