Uttoxter Racecourse, the venue for the National Event that didnt happen due to CWS going into receivership on the 19th May 2006.
Saturday dawned bright and sunny, Alison and myself set off in my car to Uttoxeter Racecourse to meet up with friends there. A number of us that had booked overnight accommodation had decided to still go to Uttoxeter, and others who werent staying overnight, also said they would still come and meet up with us. Then Mandy and Roger kindly invited us all to their caravan which was to be parked on the racecourse campsite, for a party in the afternoon followed by a BBQ in the evening.
I phoned the racecourse on the Tuesday to see if we could still park on their car park and a very nice man called Richard said we could, which was a good job (smile). Alison and myself arrived at the racecourse at around 10.15am to find Mandy and Roger already hard at work dealing with collectors that had started arriving there at 7am unaware that the National Event and the BBQ had been cancelled, and that CWS had gone into receivership. Roger asked Alison and myself to take over from him and Mandy so they could go and get something to eat for themselves and their children. We were only too happy to help out, Pat and Paul were also "volunteered" to help deal with collectors as well (smile). Some collectors decided to stay and come along to the party later in the day, so they parked up. It was a bit chaotic, but it was fun as well, chatting to the collectors, the majority of whom were very friendly and understanding, and were glad someone was there to let them know what had happened.
But you will be please to hear that I did manage to get a few photos of the days events (smile).
A few collectors get together to have a chat about what has happened to CWS including Nicola, Sharon and Andy (who made collectors attending the party a beautiful bookmark, with the kind permissin of Real and Muff) thanks Sharon and Andy I will treasure mine (smile).
More collectors gather for a chat, the two ladies facing the camera (one with a flight bag) are from the USA and the event was going to be part of their holiday!! In the purple defenfer of the Universe T shirt with her back to the camera is Alison, who came with me, and at the side of Alison in the blue T shirt is Kevin. In the bottom left hand corner is Andy who Ive cut in half....sorry Andy (smile).

Here we have Paul, Andy, Pat (with her back to us) and Sharon, who you cant really see as she is hiding from the camera behind Pat...no need to be shy Sharon...we all know you now after you giving us the bookmarks (smile).
Here we have two "new" friends Scott and Shirley, along with two "old" friends Darren and Kevin. It was lovely meeting you Scott and Shirley. Hope you enjoyed your day out, even if there wasnt a Pocket Dragon "event".
