10th National Event

Stoneleigh Park Saturday 28th May 2005

This year we found Stoneleigh Park without any trouble, but the queue outside was already forming. The weather was fine but windy and we were soon "chatting" and having a laugh with other collectors, some we hadnt met before and some we already knew from past events. So the start of a wonderful weekend began(smile).
It was lovely to see Real and Muff and the CWS staff again, thank you all for making the weekend so enjoyable, and for giving up your time to make the event possible.

We know the event weekend has started now as Real and Muff arrive and immediately start walking down the queue stopping to speak with collectors. Spending a few minutes with everyone to answer questions (smile).

Real and Muff get to where Alison and myself are and we get a hug (which is always looked forward to)and we have a chat, then a member of CWS staff comes along and says time for Real and Muff to head back to the buildings. So I ask them if they would mind having a photo with Alison and myself and they said of course not (smile)
If we are looking a bit wind blown....we were (smile).

Just had to get a photo of Sally Travis(CWS), Real, Muff and Rick Ford (Editor/photographer of the gazette) as its not very often you get all 4 of them together long enough for a "photo shoot" (smile). Makes a change for Rick to be at the "other" side of a camera (smile).
Thanks again Rick for my "featured collector article" in the gazette..I loved it (smile). It was obvious an awful lot of collectors had read it...they kept coming upto me during the weekend and saying "your in the gazette arent you"........FAME AT LAST (smile).

Real hard at work as always (smile). This is the members only piece Cookie Commandos getting "autographed". Its a beautiful set, which I also bought and got my "dogtag" with my membership number written on it (smile).

Collectors sitting patiently in the signing area waiting their turn to get their dragons signed. Thankfully there were plenty of seats this year, so people didnt have to stand in the queue (smile). People were talking to other collectors while they waited and watching the "magician" performing tricks with a pack of playing cards. I have to say he was very good.

I just managed to get this photo of Rick Ford (photographer and editor of the gazette) as he was bent down looking in his camera bag. "GOTCHA" Rick (smile) makes a change for Rick to get "caught on camera" as he is usually the one catching collectors on his camera (smile).

Real and Muff have both worked very hard today, with hardly a break. They have been busy talking to collectors all day, its a wonder they still have their voices (smile). But the day is drawing slowly to a close, so they can both have a well deserved rest, before doing it all over again tomorrow (smile).

So the moment everyone had been waiting for arrives, the prize draw. The lucky winners get together with Real and Muff to have their photos taken. The winners are: Erica Perkins, Simon Large, Sue Martin and Jennine Iredale..but unfortunately I cant put the names to the faces...only Simon Large and Sue Martin who is stood next to Real (thanks Katt for the info). So if you know who is who please let me know. Jennine won Shark Patrol, as the raffle prize that was held for the ABC cancer charity.
Thanks to everyone for giving so generously towards the charity.

The event might be over for the day, but a group of us got together at Stoneleigh Park Lodge and had a party for Julias's Mums (June) Birthday. We started out sat on Jacqui and Malcolms patio area, but it was so cold there that we moved to the Lodges patio where they had heaters (smile).

Some of us stood underneath one of the patio heaters, to keep warm, including me (smile). Has the top of your head got cool yet Paul? (smile). We had a really good time..dont think the wine had anything to do with it...(smile). Hope we didnt make too much noise with our laughter, if we did...sorry.
