FEEDBACK
March 30, 2003

This page we will show you the feedback that we get from our web site.  We will show the pro and the con.  We will answer all questions and if we do not have the answer we will do all we can to get the answer.  Remember that this is the opinions, through feedback, from SIA associates.

Lets unite and organize so our VOICE can be heard.

JUST THE FACTS, NO RUMORS

In the March 24 issue of our weekly news bulletin the UPDATE the rumors and partial truth is SIAs straight talk.

Rumor:  SIA plans to save money by hiring new associates in at the beginning rate after one year from the last lay off.

Feedback:  Why did SIA change their stance on the time limit for recall rights.  After months of requests by associates who have been laid off and associates who will be laid off, SIA refused to change until pressured by associates, city council and possibly the presence of the UAW.  Part of this issue was even reported on the local news.  SIA will have us think that they made the change out of the goodness of their heart.  In our opinion pressure concerning tax abatements played a huge part in their decision.  But of course they made no mention of that.  However SIA did finally do the right thing for the associates.

Rumor:  There is a plan to reduce the number of unavoidables.

Feedback:   THANKS FOR STARTING A NEW RUMOR!!  The rumor was a plan to limit our use of unavoidables to 1 per .  SIA calls those associates who use all of their unavoidables within the 1st couple of months chronic abusers.  By getting associates to accuse each other of abusing our benefits, SIA will divide and conquer us.  That says a lot for a place that preaches teamwork.  Lets not forget that we used to have 5 sick days, back then we were accused of abusing them and SIA took them away.  However SIA did give us 2 unavoidables, you do the math.  It is our opinion that we only have 2 unavoidables, since we are forced to use 2 of our vacation (pto) days as unavoidables.  Bottom line is that UNAVOIDABLES are a BENEFIT.  A benefit is something that we have worked for, something we deserve for our loyalty.  A benefit is not a tool to be used as punishment because SIA believes some associates are chronic abusers.  You can not abuse a BENEFIT!!!!  FINALLY, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SIA WILL NOT REMIND YOU THAT A FEW YEARS AGO THEY REQUIRED US TO US OUR BENEFIT (UNAVOIDABLES) FIRST.  We can not call in and take a hit on our attendance, we must use an UNAVOIDABLE.
