Part II: Character Information
NO PASSION OR DRIVE
Character Position:
Sailor Cupid
Character Name:
Silky Ives
Name Meaning:
Silky -
Form of Silke, which is a Latin name meaning
"Blind".
Also means soft and smooth, attributed to silk cloth. Which has no
relevance - but the blind part does! Yay!
Ives -
Form of "Ive", which is a Teutonic name meaning "Archer."
Put
both names together, and she's "Blind Archer". And Cupid was a blind archer.
Seeing a resemblance?
Birthdate and Age / Zodiacal Sign:
May 21, 1981 making her a
fifteen-year-old Gemini, although she's very close to the Taurus/Gemini cusp. I
know Gemmi's are overdone for her element, but it's just too fitting for her.
Meh. My apologies, really.
Physical Details:
Hair -
Silky's hair is about four inches long,
when pulled straight, all around. It's also very thick and very curly, so her
head is covered in black, shiny ringlets. She keeps it short, because if it were
any longer it'd be frizzy and tangled constantly, no matter how much she brushed
or how much conditioner she used. Thankfully, though, at the length it is now,
she manages to keep it from turning into a frightful mess. Since it's so short,
though, there isn't much she can do with it, and it's usually covered by one of
the many bandannas she owns.
Eyes -
A light brown color, and very round, with short black lashes and
high, thin eyebrows to match. Really, there isn't much to say about her eyes.
They're not all that remarkable - they're just eyes. She usually wears light
eyliner on them, and that's it.
Build/Carriage -
Silky is short, 5'1 and a half to be exact, but it's
still pretty hard to miss her in a crowd. The girl exudes confidence, especially
in her posture - it's not exactly perfect, because she has a tendency to lean on
things or balance all of her weight on one hip - but she never seems vulnerable
or worried, she's
always seems happy and bouncy. She has a long neck and
broad shoulders, with a long torso and short legs. She's also a bit, um,
rounded, much like the represenation of Cupid we all know. The Ives' women were
made for childbearing, and Silky is no exception. She has wide hips, resulting
in slightly thick thighs and knees, and a chest to match. Her waist dips in
softly, but not drastically at all. She's a candy-eater, and her figure ends up
paying for that just a little. It bothers her, sometimes, but she doesn't have
the willpower to put the gummi bears down.
Face -
She has a round face, another side affect of her love of sugary
sweets, but it works on Silky, and gives her an almost cherubic look sometimes.
Her forehead is small, and a few of her black curls fall onto it. She has light
brown eyes are set a bit far apart, but they're large enough that it's not very
noticable - except if she crosses her eyes. Then she looks a bit like a cartoon
alien. She finds this very amusing. She has a small, short, very round nose
which occasionally sport her square, tortiose shell reading glasses. Her mouth
is usually covered in fruit-flavored lip-gloss, since Silky is almost obsessed
with the stuff, and is very full and round. They're naturally much darker than
her only slightly tan skin. Her mouth is Silky's favorite feature, so she tries
to play it up whenever as she can.
Clothing Style -
Silky doesn't have a distinct clothing style, though
she usually sticks to simple faded jeans and an interesting top, with lots and
lots of accesories. She LOVES the idea of lace worn casually, and owns over ten
different shirts made of different kinds of lace. She also likes vests and
patches, but she has less of those. Her favorite outfit is a pair of bootcut
jeans (which are just a tad bit too long - most of her pants are, because it's
almost impossible to find clothes that fit her hips that aren't made for tall
people) that are naturally faded from so much wear, and an beige-lace shirt over
a dark red tank top.
(Really, Silky's appearance isn't all that relevant - but I threw in a few
things, here's a list:
- As I said, Cupid is most often pictured as a chubby
young boy, so I made Silky just slightly boyish (short hair, broad shoulders).
She also has a round face and round eyes in hopes of making her look childish.
In more rare forms, though, Cupid was known to be startlingly beautiful and
attractive, and since beauty is all the attitude, I gave her confidence and
spunk.
- In almost all forms, Cupid is either blind or his eyes are covered
by a cloth - thus, Silky's reading glasses, which she has to wear often.)
Bloodtype:
Meh. AB, I guess. I'm really bad at attributing bloodtypes
and zodiacs, they never seem to fit right to me.
Gemstone:
Her birthstone is Emerald, and she really doesn't have a
favorite. She's never put any thought into stones and jewels, they don't
interest her in the slightest.
Likes:
Candy & Sweets
They're sweet. They taste good. Silky will
always always always have candy on her person somewhere, be it in her backpack,
her pocket, her hand, or her mouth. She's a candy fanatic, especially
artificially fruit flavored candies and ones that have the word "gummi" in their
name.
(Cupid is usually represented as a chubby child - and any child that
doesn't like candy is a freak of nature. So there. Haha.)
Board Games
They're an interactive, social thing that doesn't involve
too much work. Plus, Silky's generally good at them.
(This actually has no
relevancy, it just seems to fit Silky well, so I threw it in here.)
Children
Silky loves kids, and she gets along with them well. As an only
child who doesn't babysit all that often, she doesn't understand what a hassle
they can be. Since she was four, Silky's been trying to convince her parents to
have another child, so she can be someone's big sister. Kids like her, usually,
and one of the few times you'll see her active is when she's playing with them.
(The child shooting arrows thing, again. Also, though, have you ever noticed
how much kids understand about feelings and emotions? They understand love and
caring more than most adults do. Although she doesn't realize it, that's one of
the main reasons Silky finds children so refreshing.)
Movies
Silky adores movies. If you can't find her, you obviously haven't
checked the Ives' living room sofa. She's most likely sprawled awkwardly across
the couch, staring intently at the television screen. She loves almost every
movie she sees, she's not picky. Of course, as Cupid, she loves the romances -
especially comedic romance, but she doesn't limit it to that. Action, mystery,
even horror.
(Once again, very little relevancy, it's just who Silky is. The
fact that it's almost impossible to see a movie that doesn't involve romance
helps, though.)
Attention
Silky will claim that she is shy. She will try to be humble.
She will pretend to hide from cameras, she will act as if she hates it when
people look in her direction. And it's all fake. She loves attention, and when
put in a social situation she'll usually get a fair amount. She doesn't need to
be the center of attention, really, she just needs SOME attention. She hates
feeling left out and alone, even more than most people.
(Absolutely no
relevancy. Once again, I give my apologies.)
Her Soap Operas
Well, really, it's only one. And she insists it's not a
soap opera. See, Silky is addicted to "Karell High", a television show in it's
first season. It features a cast of characters in a fictional high school, while
they go through life's troubles. They show this weeks new episode on Monday
evenings, and replay it again about three times during the week. Silky would not
miss it for the world - seriously. If it weren't for the fact that the brand new
episodes are aired again, she'd probably put off saving the world just to see
what happens to the characters. (The show, of course, is almost completely about
romance and first loves, so there's a little relevancy there. Plus, Cupid must
have spent all of his time just . . . watching humans, deciding who to hit next
with his magical arrows. Silky spends her time watching Karell and wishing like
heck she had magical arrows, or that she could smack some sense into the
characters . . .)
(On another note, Karell is an entirely fictional creation.
There is no real show named Karell High.)
Dislikes:
Healthy Food
As a self-proclaimed junk-food junkie,
Silky can't stand the taste of anything considered even remotely healthy.
Fruits? Only if they're made of marzipan. Bread? If it has frosting, she might
eat it. Vegetables? She had carrot cake, one. Otherwise, completely out of the
question.
(No relevancy, other than the fact that it makes her more
childish.)
Supermodels and Movie Stars
Although Silky is usually pretty confident
in herself, she's a normal teenage girl and will have occasional bouts of
self-doubt. Most of these occur after she's been watching more TV than usual.
She tries not to think about it, but it really does bother her that she's not
the most desirable body type. Seeing runway models and beauty queens too much
depresses her. This only happens about once every few months, though, and lasts
only a few days. Then she's back to her cool, confident self.
(No relevancy,
just Silky being normal.)
"Love"
Don't get me wrong - Silky loves romance and love, she IS Sailor
Cupid after all. She thinks that true love is fantastic - but when people
pretend to be in love for other reasons than the sake of loving, it angers her.
She can't believe that people would toy around and play with such a sacred thing
as love. She hates it when the boys at school tell a girl they love them, sends
flowers and candy, and then three weeks later does the same for an entirely
different person. It infuriates her when a person fakes being in love, and it
frusterates her that so many people are confused when it comes to what "love"
is.
(I imagine Cupid would feel the same.)
"Maturity"
Once again, it's in quotes. People who think they are so much
older, so much smarter, and so much more mature than Silky piss her off royally.
Excuse my language. But they do. Silky thinks that it's ridiculous to spend your
life trying to act older, and she'll throw a fit to anyone who tells her to "act
her age". She truly feels that she is acting her age by throwing tantrums and
idly dreaming her life away, and if you tell her otherwise she's convinced
you're uptight and throwing YOUR life away by not doing exactly as she does.
She's kind of closed-minded.
Artificial Light
I know, that's weird. But Silky doesn't like lamps or
light fixtures or flashlights. She doesn't like the harsh light they cast, and
she dislikes the way they're always turned on everywhere. She also gets mild
headaches, if she's in very bright, iridescent lights for too long. She'll put
up with them - it's not a venemous or violent hatred, it's just an annoyance.
Nothing aspirin can't fix. But Silky won't be truly happy and comfortable unless
she's relaxing in natural sunlight or in the dark (perhaps the soft glow of a TV
screen, or the moon).
(This actually has relevancy! It refers to the myth
about Cupid and Psyche - Cupid would secretly visit Psyche every night, but too
keep his identity a secret (he was supposed to curse her with love for a
disgracefully ugly man) he asked her too keep the lights off. But one night,
when Cupid was asleep, Psyche let her curiousity get the best of her and lit a
lamp. Cupid awoke, and grew angry at Psyche. She ran away, and disappeared
before Cupid could find her - he woefully searched the world for her, until
finally Zues grew weary of hearing both the lover's tears, and allowed the two
to find each other and marry. Thus, Silky's dislike of lamps and artificial
light.)
Hobbies:
Modeling
Although she doesn't exactly fit the picture of
modern beauty, Silky photographs well. And for the past year or so, she's
entertained the dream of going into professional modeling. She'd never be a
supermodel or anything, she's not ambitious enough for that and she could never
take the pressure of so much responsibility. But small-time modeling for extra
cash in her later years is something she'd love to do. She loves the attention
it gets her, and she lights up even more behind a camera. So far, all she's done
is a little work for her cousin's "goth" clothing line. (Cupid was one of the
most often drawn Roman gods, he was represented on hundreds of things -
everything from walls to goblets to lamps. He's still seen today, on
thousands of Valentine's Day cards, in cartoons . . . he's everywhere! Ta
da!)
Watching Movies and TV
Most of this had already geen detailed in the
likes & dislikes section. But since it's really a hobby, too, I thought I
should list it here.
Lazing Around
I know it's not much of a hobby - but really, that's what
Silky does. It's not that she's a couch potato - she just can't get up the
motivation to really DO anything all that important. Between her television and
her own wistful dreaming, she rarely has time to really do much that's
productive.
Personality:
Silky is actually a very easy person to understand. She's
not complicated. She's a simple girl - she likes TV and movies, she hopes for
too much, and works too little. She likes being social, gets along with almost
everyone, and is very honest and open about everything in her own life. She's a
bit sheltered, and awfully self-centered. She doesn't understand other people at
all, she lacks drive and determination, and she's a spoiled brat. She's quick to
anger, but quick to forgive. She doesn't think before she speaks, but she
manages to still be a pretty good person. Hopefully, you already have a pretty
good idea of what Silky is like from the first part of this profile. She lives
her life vicariously through other people - be that television characters or
other students at St. Tarcisius - and spends her time trying to fix other
people's problems. Her solutions are usually the wrong solution, too, but Silky
just doesn't take no for an answer. She thinks the world will fall into her lap
if she just waits long enough, and the concept of hard work is incredibley hard
for her to understand. She's never had to work for things in life, and doesn't
think she'll ever have to. She likes to think that she'll one day be a
small-time model, and spend the rest of her days at home, living with someone
she cares about. She wants to have everything. Silky really does believe that
she can have her cake and eat it, too. When it comes to love, although she's the
soldier of it, she's a bit lost. She expects too much, and she won't settle for
less than perfect. She's dated a few times and it was all disasterous, because
she won't stand for anything but her own vision of love. She wants someone who
will make her laugh, who will protect her from the world, give her everything
she wants, be always by her side, who has a beautiful body and a beautiful
heart, without even a wandering glance . . . And there will never, ever be a
person that fits that standard. Maybe one day she'll realize that. She does get
the occasional crush, but they usually fade quickly. The moment her crush
reveals that they're not perfect, the magic is gone and she's over them and
moving on. She's been on a few dates, but the problem is just the same. She'll
have to learn to settle for something just a little below her absurd standards
if she ever wants to find someone. Because everything in Silky's life has just
been handed directly to her, she has absolutely no dedication or motivation in
life. She has very little passion, and it takes alot to get her riled up about
something. She doesn't know what she'll do with her life, and doesn't really
care much. Her priorities aren't at all straight. She gets low grades in school,
because socialization is ten times more important to her than education will
ever be. I make it sound like she's a degenerate, and that's really not the
case. She's a very happy, very loving girl. She loves everyone, and she accepts
people almost immediatly. She'd never turn away a person in need, she just has a
problem seeing that need unless it's blatently obvious. People gravitate towards
Silky, because she's very honest and caring. Although she's pushy, she really
means it in the best way. She's just trying to help, and that's the only way she
knows how. What you see is what you get, she hides nothing and isn't ashamed of
who she is (usually . . .). It's Silky's world, everyone else just lives in it.
Although her niavity will probably cost her in the end, in the mean time it
gives Silky a very bright and cheery outlook on life. And she's always willing
to share that optimism. She get's frusterated easily, and has been known to
throw quite the fit when she's truly pissed off, but she's never held a grudge
in her life. Once something is over, it's over. She doesn't look to the future,
but that means she doesn't dwell on the past, either. She lives for
present.
History:
The Ives' are a very interesting couple. They met on the job -
Marcell Ives was slowly climbing the business ladder, just starting a short
stint as the regional manager for a small automobile retail chain. Alaida Pietra
was the secretary for *his* supervisor, and she was very very bad at the job. As
a matter of fact, the only reason she really *had* the job was because she was
sleeping with her boss. When Marcell and Alaida met, there were immediate sparks
between the two. Only a week later, Alaida broke off her "relations" with their
supervisor, and quit her job. She moved in with Marcell the very next day, and
they were engaged two months later. They move fast, don't they? The wedding
photos in the Ives' scrapbooks are a bit unconventional - mostly because Alaida
is very very pregnant. The vows were also taken in a car lot - the one Marcell
had just bought with his brother. It was a very festive occasion, full of happy
faces and lots of laughter. Alaida will tell you today that Silky must have
heard all of the rejoicing and decided to join in, because the very next night
Alaida went into labor. It was a long labor, lasting almost three days total.
But in the end, the couple was graced with a healthy, happy baby. There were
doubts, at first, of who Silky's father was. The Ives' were married only six
months after their engagement - almost exactly nine months after their first
meeting. Unfortunately, the timing didn't seem right - they wondered just a
little if the child could be Alaida's former beau, the man they'd both worked
under. Both Marcell and Alaida didn't want to think about the situation, though,
and chose to ignore it. Once Silky was born, however, there was no doubt in
either of their minds that Silky was Marcell's child. The way she looked, and
the way she acted even as an infant, was so much like Marcell, they called it
all paranoia and moved on. Silky's childhood has always been good, the Ives' are
great parents. Silky is thier only child, much to her dismay, so she's been
spoiled for most of her life. As I mentioned, Marcell teamed up with his younger
brother, Hardy, and bought a car lot with money loaned to them by their father.
The business venture was wildly successful - they now own two other lots in the
regions surrounding Rome. Marcell is in charge of most business matters, the
behind-the-scenes work, while Hardy is the spokesperson/head of advertising for
their budding company. It brings good money to the family, and has since Silky
was about two years old. She's never had to go without something, thanks to her
parents. Both Alaida and Marcell are very welcoming, sweet people. Their home is
not just their home - but everyone's. The doors are always open to anyone they
know, so the place is almost always busy and full of life. They flat the family
lives in now is just barely outside the city walls, they moved there was Silky
was six, and she can't remember their old apartment. It's the only place she'd
consider to ever be her home, and it's very dear to her heart. Silky started
school at Romulous Elementary, but she only attended kindergarten there. When
the family moved to their current home, they also switched Silky to St.
Tarcisius, where she's still going now. She's never done well in school, because
it doesn't matter at all to her. She managed to scrape buy with barely passing
grades purely because of help from friends and family. If Social Skills were a
graded subject in school, Silky would pass with wonderful marks. She's one of
those people that get along with almost everyone - she doesn't have a distinct
group of friends at school, but settles for drifting from clique to clique when
the mood suits her. She has no outright enemies, though I don't want to say that
*everyone* loves her. There are certainly people who find her annoying, but most
of them keep quiet, since she's "in" with such a varied group of people. Silky's
life is very simple, fitting her personality perfectly. She goes to school, and
although she's not an academic person, she doesn't miss a day very often. She's
worried that she'll miss some catastrophic event (What if Cora finally asks Ryan
out, and she MISSES IT?!). When she gets home, it all depends on her mood. She's
either collapse infront of the TV for a few hours, or spend that time on the
phone. She's close with her family, so she usually spents weeknights in. Her
weekend entertainment varies, but she's usually doing something with someone
somewhere. She's not much of a party-girl, but she'll attend them if there's
nothing else interesting going on. Life for her, really, won't change all that
much after her awakening. Truthfully, the entire "savior of the universe" theory
won't sink in for Silky for a very long time. She thinks it's cool to be a
soldier, and it's an honor, and all that. But the idea also scares her, since
danger isn't something she's used to, and she kind of resents the amount of time
it takes from her. She sees the importance of the soldiers, but she doesn't
really believe that she's important in the entire scheme of things. Silky's life
will never be about being Sailor Cupid, she won't let it. It's just another
little thing about her life, like a hobby or a class in school.
(There's actually relevancy in this -
Cupid's lineage is unknown, and
his Greek counterpart (Eros) has many different legends about his birth. The
most well known and acknowledged was that he was the son of Aphrodite and Ares,
but some say it was Aphrodite and Hephaestus. Even other myths Erebus and Nyx,
or Zephyr and Iris. Thus, the confusion with Silky's birth, and her parent's
early relationship.)
NPCs:
Marcell Ives
Silky's father is a cheerful, friendly,
hardworking man. Marcell was 25 when his daughter was born, and now just
approaching 40, though you'd never guess. He doesn't act like a
thirty-nine-year-old. He's still very youthful, he knows how to let loose and
have fun, but still be responsible and have common sense. He's very proud of his
family - he loves his wife completely, he still worships her unconditionally.
His relationship with his daughter is very much the same - he thinks she is just
fantastic. Silky got her love of life and her social graces from her father.
Marcell is average hieght, and just the tiniest bit overweight. He has broad
shoulders and a strong jawline, with dark brown eyes with thick eyebrows. He's
always clean-shaven, and usually dressed in classic casual. His hair is very
dark brown and curly like Silky's, with a few sprinkles of grey starting
to grow in here and there.
Alaida Ives
Alaida spent her youth and early adulthood as a real wild
child. She grew up in the middle-lower class area of Rome, and from the ages of
14 to 21 partied almost non-stop. It took just the right man to settle her down
- and of course, that was Marcell. She's very dedicated to her husband, almost
as much as he is to her. The couple are still very much in love, even after
fifteen years of marriage. Like her husband, Alaida is still very youthful -
though this later youth is very different from her early days. Alaida is a
dreamer, and has been known to spend hours just staring off into space thinking
up great adventures in her head. Unlike her husband and her daughter, though,
Alaida knows a but more about the world, and worries sometimes about Silky's
lack of determination. Whenever possible, she encourages her daughter to get out
and taste life, not to spend so much time at home. Alaida is a very pretty
woman. She's tall and thin, with long legs and an ample figure. Her falls just
past her shoulders in soft, black waves. She's only 35, so her face is still
rather young. There are small wrinkles around her eyes and mouth, mostly from
spending the last fifteen years perpetually smiling. Silky got both her eyes and
her mouth from her mother, Alaida has the same golden brown irises and soft,
round lips.
Hardy Ives
Hardy is Marcell's brother, and Silky's uncle. He lives in
the same building as Silky's immediate family, with his two roomates (Paul and
Aran, who aren't important to Silky at all and don't really matter), but spends
almost all of his time in his brother's house. He's 34, and the co-owner of
Ives' Car Lots. He's close to Silky, and has been a big part of her life since
the day she was born. Hardy's alot like his brother, just a bit more charismatic
and alot shorter. Hardy gets along with everyone, and his life has been very
much like Silky's actually. He grew up not really having an aim in life, until
his older brother decided to buy the car lot and he got in on the deal. He's
also been in a series of commercials about the company, and sometimes people
recognize him. He finds this endlessly amusing. Hardy is about 5'5, and a little
underweight. At the first sign of even a single grey hair, he shaved his whole
head, and sports only a dark brown goatee. His skin is tan, and dark brown eyes
are framed with a pair of thin-rimmed glasses. He usually dresses in jeans and a
T-shirt, though if something important is going on at work he's been known to
wear slacks and a button-up once in a great while.
(Because of Silky's "drifter" social status, it's really impossible to list
all of her friends. She's doesn't really have a best friend, and it's no use
trying to pick only one person to list. She generally gets along with everyone,
but she's not particularly close with anyone, either. Just know that she doesn't
have any "friend" NPCs doesn't mean she doesn't have any friends.)
Part III: Senshi Information
Special Skills:
Charisma
Well, although it's not really a "special
skill" or at all unique, Silky is really good with people. She's good at solving
arguments between people, and getting people to calm down. She's not what you'd
call a "charmer", really, because she's not exactly manipulative. She just
explains things really well.
Impeccable Aim
Silky's never really noticed it, herself, but she has
fantastic aim. No matter if she's throwing something, kicking it, shooting it
from something, or hitting it with something else. It will always hit it's mark.
She's never had an interest in sports or things like that, so she's never really
noticed it before.
Lucky for Love
Although it doesn't work for Silky herself, Silky seems
to always have something to do with people hooking up. If she's around when two
people meet, there's a much higher chance that they'll give romance a shot. She
doesn't purposely "set them up", it just seems to happen.
Henshin Item:
Cupid's jewel is a bit darker than the rest of her fuku
color, and is probably either a discolored red beryl stone or rhodocondrite.
When not in senshi form, Silky keeps it on a thick, silver bracelet worn on her
right wrist. The bracelet is very thin in some places, but widens to almost
three-inches thick in the "front". It has simple etchings in it of swirly
designs over the rest of the bracelet.
Transformation:
Silky starts her transformation by yelling "Cupid . .
." and raising her right hand, hand in a fist, with her elbow bent so that her
wrist is about six inches above her head, palm facing the camera (or whichever
way Silky is facing). Her jewelry melts away, including the bracelet with her
henshin gem on it. "Dues . . ." She opens her hand, and the jewel falls from it.
Before it can fall to the ground, though, it sprouts a pair of wings. The wings
are about a foot and a half long each, and made of white feathers. "Power . . ."
she yells. The jewel flits around Silky, while she very slowly begins to spin.
Once she is turned 180 degrees, so she's facing away from 'the camera', the
jewel lands just between her shoulder blades. The jewel glows brightly and
disappears again, leaving it's wings behind on Sailor Cupid's back. "Make . . ."
as she turns so that her right is facing you (or the camera, or whatever), she
begins to glow just like the jewel did, for a few seconds. As she yells "Up!"
the glow dies, revealing Sailor Cupid looking over her shoulder at you. She
usually
ends it with a dramatic wink, too, just for fun.
Color:
I'd call it lilac. Pale pink, with a touch of lavendar.
Symbol:
Sailor Cupid's symbol is an arrow. Sort of. It's point is in
the shape of a heart, and instead of the feathers around the top, there are
swirly designs reminiscent of the symbol for lyre which was attributed to many
gods - one of which was Cupid/Eros.
(
http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/02/0221.html)
Fuku/Costume:
First of all, there are the wings. Each wing is 1 foot 6
inches long, and attached to the fuku in middle of her shoulderblades. They're
pretty darn small. Made of shiny white, semi see-through fabric, with a pinkish
sheen to them, they really have very little purpose. If Sailor Cupid were to try
really really really really hard and use every little inch of magical powers in
her, they'd still sit there and hang limply. They're not even really attached to
her - they're sewn into the fabric of her uniform. Really, there weren't many
changes to the fuku made. Sailor Cupid's hair is exactly like Silky's, of
course, except minus her usual bandanna and add in a few pale pink, heart-shaped
barrettes here and there. Her choker is made of the same light brown leather as
the flaps on her skirt and the bands around her arms, and it has a lilac-colored
heart on it, too. Her collar is lilac, along with her pleated skirt and her
fingernails. The armor is just like the rest of the senshi's - silver, guarding
her chest, back, and shoulder. However, the henshin broach also attaches a dark
lilac sash, that falls over and a little under the chest armor. The sash is just
slightly transparent, made of a very light material, and purely decoration. On
Sailor Cupid's left hip (or the right - the same side as the broach) is a small,
white sheath decorated with very light, thin, pink swirly designs on it. The
designs meant to resemble the symbol for lyre (see "symbol"). The sheath holds
her weapons. Her shoes are made of the same leather her arm bands are. They're
simple sandals, with the straps winding around her legs up to just below
mid-calf. There are lilac colored ribbons tied on the sides of both, to add
decoration.
Powers/Attacks:
Cupid's Arrow
Sailor Cupid's attack is actually
quite simple. She shouts the name of the attack while pulling one of her arrows
from the sheath. She holds it inbetween both palms and raises it above her head,
looking up at it and concentrating. The "dart" begins to shine as she charges it
with her energies for about ten seconds, and then she lowers her hands. She
takes the arrow and holds it in her left hand, inbetween her forefinger and her
thumb. She aims it just like you and I would aim in a game of darts, and then
lets it go to speed towards her opponent. First of all, the "darts" ARE sharp.
They DO hurt to penetrate the skin, and that enough can catch an enemy off guard
or distract it long enough to run like hell. If Sailor Cupid uses the arrow in
her attack, as long as the dart is still in contact with her enemy, they cannot
harm anyone who has ever truly loved someone, or has the ability to do so. Her
opponent can attempt to attack, but it will not hurt or injure anyone who has
true love in their heart. I know this seems a bit powerful. But truly, it's not.
First, the "dart" has to actually penetrate the skin. Although Sailor Cupid's
aim is very good, she can still miss. A monster with scaled skin, or armor that
guards all of their flesh, cannot be hit. Second, the affects of the attack only
last as long as the dart is still in them. If they pull out the dart (which they
know is there, because it's kind of hard to miss an arrow in your arm) and toss
it to the groun immediatly, Cupid's attack is pretty much useless except as a
quick distraction. Third, it only protects certain people. A person who has
"loved before" cannot be harmed. And meaning love in the romantic sense, if you
loved your mommy or your best friend in a friendly way, that doesn't count (in
this case). And true love isn't judged by your own opinion or your mind, it's
something in your heart. People with the potentional to one day fall in that
kind of love can also be protected, though the "sheild" not quite as strong as
those who already understand it. A person without belief in or hope of love
cannot be protected by this power. Lastly, if not used correctly the attack can
be dangerous to the people it's meant to protect. It causes slight backlash for
anyone who has ever spit at the thought of love, or sworn to "never love again"
- it can cause a severe chest pain, much like a heart attack, for around three
minutes.
Weapons:
This has been a very difficult section to figure out what
to do with. Cupid was a god most famous for his use of magical arrows in a bow,
to shoot the hearts of mortal men. The magic in the bow & arrow caused those
who were hit to fall madly in love, as I'm sure you know. However, Vesper Knight
already has a bow for his weapon, and I didn't want to repeat that. I also
didn't want to be so obvious - EVERYONE expects Sailor Cupid to use a bow &
arrow. So I brainstormed. If Vesper Knight uses a bow without arrows, why
doesn't Sailor Cupid follow the trend and use arrows without the bow? Oh, but
that was too obvious, and it seemed at bit weird for her to just randomly throw
arrows around. That left two choices - either make them it one really large
arrow and call it a spear, or a bunch of really small arrows and call them
darts. I settled on the second choice, because it fit Cupid better in my
opinion. There's alot of them, like arrows. They can come in a sheath, like
arrows. They can look just like shrunken arrows, if I do it right. Cupid's
"darts" are alot like three dimensional versions of her symbol. They're all 5.5
inches long, and vary in color. The shafts are made of white-colored wood, and
the point is a black heart - sharp end facing outward, of course. Emphasis on
"sharp". On the opposite end than the point are three wood curls, like on
Cupid's symbol. By some force of magic, the strange carved swirls don't affect
the aerodynamics of the darts, and they're just as easy to throw as any you'd
find in your local bar. They're very light, so they can go pretty far and move
quickly through the air.

Part IV: Miscellaneous Information
Why you:
Why me? Because I'm cool. And I have a waffle iron. That's a
pretty cool thing, isn't it? It's a waffle iron of doom. You know you want it.
Don't even pretend. Also, you want me because I'm nifty. And I'm nice. And
helpful. And I like hamsters. That's a good reason, isn't it? Yes, yes it is. I
also find it very awkward whoring myself out at you people. So I'll stop.
However, I can pimp Silky. You know she's cool. She'd be an asset to your RPG.
Besides, she'll probably whine if you don't accept her. You don't want a whining
Aizi about a whining character, do you? I didn't think so.
Miscellaneous:
I think I'll use this spot to more seriously answer the
"why you" section. I've really enjoyed creating Silky. She's the first
semi-successful character creation I've managed in a long time. Hopefully it
means the end of a year-long character writing block. I think she's a very fun
character, I can see alot of fun stories with her. Second of all, I think
Pantheon is an awesome RPG. It's a really interesting premise, and although I
only know two or three of the already present players, all I've heard it good
things about it. I'm excited and nervous, I really do hope Silky and I are
accepted. I'm a dedicated player, and I enjoy these games alot. Even if Silky
isn't accepted, you can look forward to me applying again. And again. And again.
I will never give up! NEVER! Never, I tell you! NEVER! *chews on monitor*
Hahahahahaha! *runs off cackling evilly*

Vessy:
An outstanding app. You did an excellent job of working
in Mythological referances into her civilian form and her senshi form. The part
with the light was quite well done. Overall you were very thurough and had
excellent ideas. Overall I have only one minor critisms, the first of which
being the dislike of "supermodels and movie stars" with the later note of the
hobbie "Modeling" this kind of contradicts eachother. While the modeling is
acceptable based on the mythological background, their just contradictory.
Otherwise I thought she was quite excellent. The background and personality were
wonderful and colorful and overall exceptional. We really hope you'll bring your
exuberance and wonderful writing style back with a new character sometime in the
near future.
Dissy: Overall, you have a nice application, it's
coherant, believeable and has some unique character traits. However unique these
may be though, they would be somewhat common to a Cupid application, or an
application where the power base was love. Again, I found no problem with your
application aside from her being a somewhat run of the mill cupid. I would be so
happily excited if you decided to re-apply as another character.
Dissy's
verdict = Character Taken (but I would have given you an Accept, but
otherwise.)
