Your Name: Lissa
Email Address: [email protected]
Web Page: http://solaris_crease.tripod.com <---my attempt at a site collective. -_-

Lissa:  Vessy, do you mean Calgary Flames or "boo, hiss, your sites are not very good" flames? Cuz it can be simplified like this: Calgary Flames, good. Site Flames, bad.

Vessy: No I mean Calgary Flames whoohoo! Being the devout Calgarian I am how could I not comment on our team Hello.

Part II: Character Information
Character Position: Sailor Aesculapius, soldier of healing and medicine.

Character's FULL Name: Althea Iason Cadfael-Serpente. She has been blessed with a mother who decided, instead of going with her married name, to create a hypanated last name, and give her daughter that last name, too.
Nicknames: Al or Thea. Usually goes by Thea, however.
Name Meaning:
Althea: possibly from the greek althein, meaning "to heal"
Iason: from the greek iasthai, meaning "to heal"
Cadfael: Welsh, meaning "battle metal"
Serpente: Italian for "snake"
Thea: short form of Dorothea, which is from Latin, meaning "gift of god"
Overall meaning, loosely: "healing snake of battle" or "healing gift of the battling snake"
Lissa:  But that don't make a bit of difference. And, hehehe...yeah, making a cool name that has a really stupid meaning DOES sound like fun, Vessy!!!

Birthdate: November 7
Lissa:  I don't know why I DIDN'T delete the year.  I KNOW putting down a year is one of the NoNos in creating a senshi.  I think I was unsure about if you guys needed the year or not. ^^

Age: 16.
(all numerology information taken from http://www.numerology.freesoul.com/)
Destiny Number: 9. The ending number, it is about letting go. It is a unique number, as it has the energies of all eight previous numbers.
HOW THIS AFFECTS THEA/AESCULAPIUS: Basically, in this life, she has to learn to let go of past grievances (like, the grievances she has against the Aquilius soldiers for questing for fame instead of for the common good, her parents for getting divorced, her parents for basically forcing her to live with her brother, etc.) in order to move on.
Lissa: I really had not PLANNED on nine being her destiny number when I picked out her birthdate and age. But it worked out all good, so...^^
Challege Number: 77 is the challenge of FAITH. It stems from childhood events in which there was an element of secrecy or even deceit. All you wanted was the truth, but certain facts were kept from you, creating an atmosphere of distrust, a belief that you should not ask questions, and a feeling that you were an outsider in your own family. This developed into a need to internalize and analyze. Difficulty in feeling close to others is the result of these emotional lines which were drawn in your younger years.

Now, you have no patience for the mundane aspects of life. You are afraid of material or intellectual poverty and, consequently, you gravitate toward those you consider intellectually, financially, or socially elevated. You constantly strive to perfect yourself. You are easily disgusted by normal human functions, such as burping, farting, or even perspiring. You like to think of yourself as "above" the crowd - and yet you wonder why you often feel so lonely. How this affects Thea/Aescul: Thea HATES having secrets kept from her, mostly because the last big secrets that were kept from her were her parents' divorce and the decision of both her parents to give her to Mike. Her parents' divorce caused her to have very little faith in anything involving relationships, which is why she's such a man-hater. This also explains her need for sports in her life: she sees professional athletes as being "perfect", in the sense that they have money and are in a high class, and as a result, strives to be one of them or in their circle.

In order to turn the 7 challenge into an amazing talent for accumulating knowledge, you must admit that no one, including you, is perfect. If there were such a thing as a perfect human being, this world would be a boring place indeed. However, once you accept life’s fabulous diversity, you will begin to understand that you are, indeed, different. And it is your "differentness" that sets you apart from the crowd. You must admit that you need to develop FAITH in yourself and in life. Once you tap in to the magic of your own belief, you will discover marvelous talents that you had been ignoring because you believed they were unacceptable to "society". Stop worrying about how others may or may not see you. Go with your hunches instead of the stuffy rules of etiquette.

7 is the number of INTUITION - which means that you must freely follow your feelings rather than someone else’s outdated rules. Admit that you NEED to commit to one or more of your natural talents so that you can create a destiny for yourself in which you spend each day doing what you LOVE to do. 7 is also the number of KNOWLEDGE. There is so much for you to experience in life and in love. Don’t let titles and qualifications fool you. Be your own authority on whatever subjects interest you. Learning everything you can about them - by experience - not hearsay. You were born to learn - so that you can teach.

How this affects Thea/Aescul: Thea has very little faith in others, but she has a lot of faith in herself. Then again, basically being screwed over and ignored by her parents has a part in this, too. This is also why, at the age of sixteen, she's started to look for her destined job.

Physical Details:

Thea's build: Thea's build is more American in style than European in style: Strong, athletic, long legs, well-developed chest. (much to her angst, especially when guys start drooling over her). She, however, is rather short, standing at five feet, two inches, and weighing between a hundred and twenty to a hundred and twenty five pounds.

Lissa:  I am HORRIBLE at figuring out heigth/weight ratios, so I'm sorry about not including her weight before.

Hair: Thea's hair is rather thick, "hopelessly straight", and a dark mahogany in color. When in the sun, the highlights in her hair shines like a copper penny. Her hair falls down to the middle of her shoulderblades. However, most of the time, the top half of her hair (the section above her ears) is pulled back into a half-tail, with the hair from the half tail braided. Usually, she has a hair clip (that just happens to be her henshin item) hiding the hair band.

Eyes: Thea's eyes are an eerily pretty shade of dark lavender. Most people (or, at least most of the people she knew in America) assumed that she had colored contacts, but in fact, it's her natural eye color. Her eyes are kind and caring, and usually don't show her emotions. That's what her face is for.

Face: Like 99.995 % of senshi, Thea is pretty. She has a youthful, sterotypical looking American face (creator's note: think Britney Spears). She has the kind of face that looks pretty even when she's flaming mad.

Lissa:  Vessy, I dont want to think about Britney, either, (eww) but she IS pretty.

Most people have one place where their emotions clearly come out. For some people, it's their mouth. For Thea, it's her face. She can speak calmly, and her eyes may appear to be relaxed, but if her face is starting to get red with anger, it's a good sign that Thea should be left alone to rant and rave about whatever she's mad about to the non-living objects in the area.

Regular clothes: Much to Nonna's shagrin, Thea dresses in a very casual style that's a mixture of male and female styles. Normally, when she's not in school, she wears jeans or jean shorts, long sleeve t-shirts, and t-shirts. The majority of the clothes she owns are from stores like Old Navy and American Eagle, which she brought over with her when she officially moved to Italy.

Nonna has only one rule about clothing that Thea has to follow: dress nicely for school. Therfore, Thea has a small set of dress shirts, polo shirts, khaki's, cords, and school-girl-style skirts that she wears to school.

Carriage: Thea holds herself up very confidently. She holds herself a bit tomboyishly, and appears at times to be a bit "butch" and "like a lesbian femi-nazi" due to how she holds herself, as well as the fact that she's not nearly as crazy about boys as most sixteen year olds are.
Bloodtype: AB
Gemstone: Amythest. Thea's favorite amythests are those that are a very pale purple in color.
Likes:

Sports: As mentioned above, Thea sees athletes as being perfect because they play a game for a living. Not only that, but she's just a sports junkie. That's why she wants to get involved in athletic training. It's a way for her to get involved in sports, yet still be involved in healing and doctor-like stuff.

Racing and Cars: Growing up in Indianapolis, and helping her dad out with small stuff at his garage, racing was almost second nature for Thea to like. She enjoys watching any race she can find, and enjoys putzing on cars. (Note: pefect match for Aiden....^^)

Snakes: Thea is completely in awe of snakes, from the fact that they move very fast, even without legs, to the fact that they can un-hinge their jaws so that they can eat food that's twice as big around as they are.(I know that snakes have something to do with medicine and healing in Greek and Roman mythology, but I can't check to make sure until encyclopedia Mythica is back on-line)

Dislikes:

Men: While this is just a temporary phase, Thea HATES guys. Most of her dislike of men comes from the fact that she blames her father for her parents' divorce, and the fact that she thinks that her mother's boyfriend seduced her mother (when it was actually the other way around). She's not the type of girl who would page thru a Teen magazine to drool over the guys, that's for sure.

Being Lied To: Now, while that's a normal thing for people to dislike, Thea gets a bit extreme with it. If someone tells her the sky is green, when it's blue, she'll stop talking to them. This stems from not only her current cycle in numerology, but the fact that every time someone has lied to her recently, it's caused a major change in her life.

Hobbies:

Working on go-carts and cars: Thea has a major interest in race cars and the like, mostly from spending a lot of time in her father's auto garage and around Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Her father, seeing as Mike was soccer crazy, decided to take Thea under his wing and show her how to fix cars, so that one day, she might take over the family business. Lucky for him, she liked it. While now she totally detests her parents, and wants nothing to do with her father's garage, she still enjoys trying to make things go as fast as they can.

Athletic Training: As Thea has determined that this is more than likely going to be her future career, she spends a lot of time at her high school as a student trainer, dealing with injuries, taping ankles, and whatnot.

Personality:

Thea's not your normal, genki school girl. Most of the reason she's not your normal school girl is that she isn't too fond of guys. Some of that has to do with her bitterness towards her parents. For one, her parents "pefect" marriage was ruined by another man coming into her mother's life. Secondly, she has a deep idolization of her father, and while living with him, she saw things in him that she didn't notice when he was married to her mother. But mostly, she just hasn't grown out of her "boys are icky" stage yet. Most of her best friends are guys, but she'd NEVER think of finding one attractive.

The bitterness from her parents' divorce and the resulting bouncing around from house to house has also has made Thea more resolved in people making decisions in her life. She fears losing control of her life. Her motto is "Noone makes the important decisions in my life but me." This sudden resolve to live life by her rules has caused a few conflicts, mostly minor ones between her and her maternal grandmother. Nothing too major, just mostly about how she should dress and act. Her grandmother wants Thea to act like a proper, cultured European woman, while Thea wants to act like an American woman.

If there's one thing that makes Thea tick, its being "perfect". Before her mother started seeing another man and her parents divorced, Thea's family was the perfect family. Her father worked at his own auto garage near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Thea's mother was a homemaker. Her family had 2.5 kids (herself, her older brother, Mike, and a golden retriver named Andretti). Their house was in the suburbs, and came complete with the white picket fence and everything. They were the stereotypical happy American family. Thea's life was much happier back then, and she strives to make sure that her own life ends up being perfect.

It's her drive to be perfect, and to be in the "perfect" career for her, that has her in athletic training. She enjoys biology, especially anatomy, and she is a sports junkie. Her biology teacher at her old high school (who was also one of the school's soccer coaches) saw that, and advised her to stop down to the training room one day. When she walked in there, and saw all the people helping other people getting back to playing sports, she determined to herself that she was going to do that as a career. Her ultimate goal is to be the head trainer of a professional sports team. She knows that she has a long struggle ahead of her, and a lot of schooling, because most athletic trainers for pro teams have at least a masters in Athletic Training. However, she is extremely confident in herself, and KNOWS that she can do it.

She still feels a little bit like a fish out of water, though, when it comes to living in Rome. Her mother was born and raised in Rome, and she spent some time in Italy when she was about five or six, visiting her mother's relatives. Therefore, she knows some Italian, and some of the little quirks of Roman culture. However, she has a lot to learn. For that reason, both her and her brother are taking an "inculturation" class. The class isn't exactly her favorite thing, but she understands that if she wants to be "perfect" in Roman society, she needs to know what to do and what not to do.

Vessy: The bitter parent hating stuff is kinda over board and sob story-ish. and I'm gonna say NO. on the foreigner thing. Down right. Both of these things could very easily by fixed by her a) not being american and coming from Europe if not Italy (italy would be nice)

History:

Thea's life was relatively normal until about three years ago. Up until that point, she spent her school time at school, and during the summer, she would help out in whatever way she could at her father's garage, which was near Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Then, three years ago, the first bombshell fell on Thea's life. Her parents, who appeared to have the perfect marriage, announced to her and her brother that their divorce was finalized. This came as a HUGE shock to Thea, because she had no idea that her parents were even fighting. After the divorce, she spent half the year with her father, and the other half of the year with her mother and her new boyfriend (who was the reason that her parents got divorced: while Thea refuses to believe it, her mother seduced the man she is now living with while married to her father. Thea thinks that her mother's boyfriend seduced her mother).

Vessy: How could she not know that her parents were fighting? she would have noticed something.

A year and a half later, the second bombshell on Thea's life fell. After being bounced around from her father's house to her mother's house, both parents decided that Thea needed a more "stable" home. So, without even talking it over with Thea, they gave custody of her to Thea's brother, Mike. Not exactly the way to mend a fragile relationship with a daughter who isn't exactly fond of the situation anyway.

Vessy: If they wanted a more stable home why didn't they just decide to have her live with one of her parents while visiting her other parent one or two weekends a month. For example she seems to like her dad better because of the car thing so she could live with him and visit her mom on weekends

A few months ago, Mike and Thea went to spend the summer in Rome to live with their maternal grandmother, who had recently lost her husband. Then, Mike signed a contract with a semi-pro soccer team in Rome (after discussing it with Thea, of course. Mike knew how jaded she was about how their parents treated her, and he didn't need Thea hating his guts, too), and they're spending at least the next soccer season in Rome. So, she signed up to go to school at Romulous Public High School, and is currently enrolled as a junior (grade 11).

NPCs:

Mike Caldfael: Thea's brother and legal guardian. He's seven years older than her, and has the more "classic" Italian look: dark brown eyes, black hair, light olive colored skin, handsome, so on and so forth. He plays soccer for the Rome Olympians, a semi-professional soccer team in Rome (I don't know if they really exist or not...if not, guess what, they do now...:p). He also works part-time at the bakery that Nonna owns. He's a nice guy. A little dense at times, but a nice guy. His last name is different than Thea's because when he was born, Thea's mother went by her married name. By the time Thea was born, her mother had decided to use the hyphenated name.

Rosalita "Nonna" Serpente: Nonna is Thea's maternal grandmother. Even though she is only fifty nine years old, she has a grace and elegance about her that makes her appear regal as well as powerful. She owns a bakery in the market section of Rome, where many people go to buy their bread for the day. She believes that her daughter and son-in-law let Thea become to "boyish", and is trying to set Thea back on the road to feminity. (Basically, she's trying to make Thea more European than American). She has short, grey hair that used to be jet black, and deep blue eyes. Her face is elegant, and she looks MUCH younger than fifty nine.

Dale: Soon after moving in with Mike, Thea acquired a betta. This particular fish happened to be black, with red in between its fins. As a result, Thea named him Dale, after Dale Earnhardt, a famous Nascar driver. She speaks to Dale almost as if he's her diary/her best friend. He doesn't do much: he just sits in his little two gallon aquarium, eats, and swims around.

George Caldfael and Carmela Serpente: Thea's parents. Carmela grew up in Rome, and went to school at the University of Indiana, where she met George and got pregnant with Mike. Although they're divorced, they're still friends, and love their children like most parents love their children. However, Thea rarely speaks to them, because she is still bitter about being bounced around and treated like a piece of property.

Lissa:  Basically, they're probably not going to be important until later. Half the reason Mike decided to play a season of semi-pro soccer in Italy when he was given the chance is because he is hoping the adage "abscence makes the heart grow fonder" is true in the case of Thea and their parents.  I'm planning on having that be true. And, arrgh, sorry if it sounds like a sob story. But I sort of based her parents' divorce and situation on my friend's family right now. Her father cheated on her mother, and my friend is the only one who's even talking to him. Her other siblings don't want anything to do with him.

Part III: Senshi Information

Special Skills:

Noticing Injury: Thea has an unnatural knack of determining what exactly is wrong with an injured player/person. While she doesn't have the ability to heal it (cuz that would go into Saturn's realm...o.O), she can tell the person what's wrong. She usually uses this ability along with her First Aid training to help someone. Of course, she tries to do everything "perfectly", which can be hard in the field or when she doesn't have the right stuff with her. But, she's not insane enough (yet...) to carry a first aid kit with her.

Fixing cars: While Thea can't fix people, she can fix cars. This knowledge was mostly gained from the countless hours that she used to spend in her father's garage. While this is more than a hobby than a skill, it's listed as a skill because she's one of those people who is more naturally able to understand the workings of a car.

Lissa:  She can't heal people, right? So why not have her heal cars, in a sense.

Henshin Item: Aesculapii Henshin Brooch: The item itself is about the size of a fifty cent piece. In the middle of the item is a round, pale lavendar stone (commonly mistaken as a pale amythest) with her senshi sign inscribed into it. Surronding the stone is a border of silver. After Thea recieves it, she uses it as a hair clip to hide the pony tail band that holds the top half of her hair back.

Transformation: "Aesculapious Deus Power Make-Up!": Thea removes the brooch from her hair and holds it up in the sky. Her fingernails turn a pale lavendar, and a pale lavendar light bursts out from the brooch. This light then takes the form of a snake, which winds itself around Thea. Once the snake's head touches the top of Thea's head, it turns into a ball, which bursts, leaving Sailor Aesculapious holding the Aesculapii Staff.

Color: Hmmh, let's see here..how about puke green? o.O Actually, her color is a pale lavendar. (purple is normally the color that symbolizes healers, and seeing as Sailor Saturn has dark purple as her fuku color, I don't want to over-lap)

Symbol: The symbol looks like an old skeleton key: the bottom is an oval, and on the top of the oval there's a K-looking thing.  It is the symbol for the planet Chiron, and it is characterized with such keywords as teacher and healer.

Lissa:  I'm using the one that looks like a key. I thought the image would show up with the appy, but evidently, it didn't. -_-

Fuku/Costume: Basically, Sailor Aesculapious has the basic fuku that most Lucidius soldiers have. Her skirt, symbol, collar, and choker are all a light lavender. Her wristbands are made of brown leather. Each wrist band has a snake biting its tail on it. They represent the snake Ophion, which is the symbol of the circle of life. Her skirt flaps are also made of brown leather, but tend to look like snakes (if one looks at them too fast)

Her shoes are lace up sandals, which are also a light lavender in color. The clasp that holds the two ends of the laces together is a snake wrapped up around itself, so it looks like a spiral.

Powers/Attacks:

Healing Mummification: This is Sailor Aesculapious' attack, and can only be used once, as it is not only straining on her, but it's that type of attack.

She says the phrase, and stands with the Aesculapii Staff in front of her. Two snakes, made of a light purple-colored energy, wrap around her target, and drain their life energy. In return, any injured allies to her get an extra energy boost, as the attack essentially heals her allies as it drains the power of her enemies.

It is important to note that the attack itself is not very powerful, as is used to heal minor injuries to a group of senshi as opposed to healing massive injuries of one senshi. Not only that, but because of the fact that Aesculapious is a healer, and as such has taken an oath to heal and not injure, she can not drain all the life energy out of her target. For the most part, she can only remove half of the life energy that the enemy has at that point. (This is more of a check-point to make sure that she's not overly powerful....)

The attack can be dodged if one sees the snakes coming and runs from them, and it can also be blocked by anything that's non-living (dirt, stone, metal, energy shields, etc.). However, it can not be re-directed (as in, an enemy uses it to take the energy from the senshi and heal itself or the enemy's allies), unless it is done so by a really big power source. (The Tria Fata, perhaps?)

Lissa: *waits for the truck full of STUPID to run her over* Yeah, I guess I should know what happens if I'm the one that created the attack. I guess I was in such a hurry to send in the appy that I didn't look it over.

Weapon: Aesculapii staff: The staff that Sailor Aesculapious carries. It is as tall as she is, and is made of a shimmery, violet metal. Curled around the staff is one, solitary silver snake. The snake starts its curl at the top of the staff, and ends at about the midpoint of the staff, where Sailor Aesculapious would grasp onto the staff. It is used for her Healing Mumification attack, as well as to whack at various youma.

Why: In ancient Rome and Greece, a symbol of a healer would be a staff with one snake wrapped around it. This staff was called the Aesculapii Staff. Not only that, but she needs some sort of focii for her "Healing Mumification" attack.

Guardian: Yeah, right. Part IV: Miscellaneous Information

Why you: Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like me! XD

Actually, I think you should take me and Thea because Thea would be a good mix to the Lucidius soldiers. She's very complex, but kind (as long as you don't lie to her). Also, I think I'm a good writer, and you gotta love a girl who lists her fish as being more important than her parents! ;) And I did try to fix up the appy.

Miscellaneous: Um....I know how to make web pages....:D

Part V: The Writing Sample

"What?"

Mike Caldfael looked at his younger sister, and ran his hand thru his dark black hair. "I ran into the head coach of the Rome Olympians while working at Nonna's Panetteria today."

Thea Caldfael-Serpente looked up at her older brother and legal guardian, turning the page of the racing magazine she was reading. "And, this affects me how?"

Mike smiled nervously at Thea. "Well, we started discussing sports, and I sort of mentioned that I played semi-pro soccer last year."

Thea glared at her brother and adjusted her hair, "Mike....did you do what I think you did?"

Mike smiled. "Well, Nonna said we could stay here as long as we wanted, and I think...."

"You didn't just tell him you'd play, did you?" Thea could feel her cheeks burning with anger, and she could feel a vein in her neck start to buldge. If there was one thing she hated more than anything else, it was people deciding her life for her.

"Actually, Thea....I was wondering what you wanted to do."

"What I want to do?" Thea blinked her light lavender eyes a couple of times in suprise.

"You mean...you want my honest opinion?"

Mike sat down in one of the large, oversized chairs in the living room of the house they were staying in. "Lay it on me, Sis."

Thea thought for a bit. "Well, I am going to be one of the head trainers at Central, and I really want to apply to work at IMS during the upcomming summer. But, on the other hand....you really like Rome, don't you Mike?"

Mike nodded his head in agreement. "Yeah I do. Besides, me being on the team isn't set in stone. I have to try out and everything. But he said something about, if I DO make the team, seeing if he could talk the team into paying for me taking some classes in learning more advanced Italian than we know from Mom and Nonna, and some classes on Italian and Roman culture. I figured maybe I could pay for you to take those classes, too."

Thea shrugged her shoulders. "Well, I GUESS we could stay here. School is school, and most places are in need of student trainers..."

Most of the rest of her response was mumbled into Mike's shoulder as he hugged her. "ThankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouTHANKYOU!!!" Mike scurried into the kitchen, where the phone was, and proceeded to dial.

Lissa:  There it is, the revised version. ^^ Hope it's better than it was before. And, if I do get accepted, could you direct me to some good sites with the basics of soccer? I chose hockey because I'm a hockey nut and know most of the rules of it and such, and I know that there are professional hockey teams in Italy. Soccer, on the other hand, I know NOTHING about. -_-

------------------------------------------------------------------

Dissy: You did a great job on the revisions and I would say accept…except that we  have kinda changed our way of looking at the immigrant thing. It's strictly a big  fat  o now. I'll have no problem giving you and accept if you change the whole  American thing. One way one of the applicants made it possible for her character  to have a  more American physique was that the parents met in America but moved to  Italy before the child was born. Thusly, the child was not an immigrant. There are other ways to go about it too, American Embassy in Italy, traveling artist who settled  in Rome. Just please fix it. we've stopped accepting immigrants, but we'd really love to keep your application.
Dissy's Verdict: Revise or DIE (*sigh* Yes, again)

Vessy: Okay great job on the revisions as Dissy said. I made a few comments on the family situation perhaps if you changed the whole family situation if would save alot of the app being the family situation is the basic premise of the move. If you change that it would be awesome but perhaps you'd also like to try appling as a different character if this one is getting you down. That would be awesome as well.
As for soccer sites:
