My father's generation didn't spend any time worrying about the state of affairs in this country. As long as he had a job to go to and made enough money to pay the bills and put food on the table, he was happy.
I sometimes wonder if I wouldn't be better off with that kind of mindset. As I write this, my head is still swirling at the news that a deal has been struck with an Arab company to run six of our US ports.
Of course, the movers and shakers in Washington are saying that they have done their homework and that the deal poses absolutely no threat to Homeland Security.
At the risk of coming across as being extremely narrow-minded, I have to ask, "Do we not have any companies located in the United States that can oversee the day to day activities involved with the running of these ports?"
Are we trying to tell the Arab world, "I know some of you were involved in what happened on 9/11...oh, well, shit happens...!
Just chalk me down as being far less forgiving and far less gullible...!
Peace,
Mike
Saddam Hussein has announced he is on a hunger strike. There really isn't any need to comment any further. The absolute stupidity of such an announcement speaks for itself...!
Peace,

I went to bed last night to the sound of planes and helicopters flying overhead. As I drifted off to sleep, I found myself wondering what might be going on in the world.
I sometimes think if the common man knew all that was in store for the rest of the world, sleep would become a thing of the past.
I am more and more convinced of the fact we are, indeed, living in the last days. It is a subject most do not even want to think about. For me, I find it exciting to think that the Rapture of the Church could be just around the corner.
We shall see...!
Peace,
Mike
One has to but read the headlines or turn on CNN to realize that Muslims take their religion very seriously. For those of us who call ourselves Christians, we simply sit and shake our heads in disbelief.
Of course, we view ourselves as being politically correct and tolerant...all the while, the God we say we serve gets pushed to the back of the bus...!
Peace,
Mike
Blogs...everybody has one. The list of available blog sites could not be listed on three good rolls of toilet paper.
I had one on one of the more popular sites. It did pretty well...I started small and built myself quite a reputation. Then, I received a notice that the site I had chosen would no longer be hosting blogs...nearly a year's work went down the tubes...!
I have decided to put my ramblings here at Geocities...at the tender age of 52, once again, I am starting over...!
Will my posts be found and read...??? Your guess is as good as mine. Yet, there is a little bit of excitement in it...the thoughts of doing it in a way that's not normally done...wondering if anyone will even find the words I decide to release into cyberspace...kind of like a note in a bottle hurled into the sea.
Time will tell...!
Peace,
Mike
