| Not just wrecked, but burned too ! | ||||||||||||||||||
| This was owned by Bill Borrello, and the wreck took place in about 1991. The car had quit on him, and he was on the side of the road, with the decklid up, trying to sort it. Traffic was moving slowly, and some punk 16-year-old kid in a pickup with no patience was swerving in and out of traffic at high speed. He went zinging onto the shoulder to pass somebody and ran smack into the back of the Pantera, sending it (and Bill) flying. Bill broke his leg, but since the gas tank burst and the car caught fire, he would have been in MUCH worse shape had he actually been inside. Fortunately he got a generous insurance settlement and was able to buy a replacement Pantera--one that actually runs ALL the time! :>) ---Mike Drew |
