Mojave Air, or where planes are "stored". (The Bone Yard)
Daze Inn
Arrival in Vegas ...
The trip started out with a threat of rain, and it was snowing heavily on our
intended route through the Sierras so we opted for Plan B, the droning Highway 5. The rain was very light, and once over the first mountain range we were greeted with a beautiful day !  A sign of things to come ?    There is something magical about driving an exotic, in a large convoy of other DeTomasos.  I sometimes wished I was a passenger, at least for a short time, just so I could take better photographs of the other cars.  I love to observe a Mangusta or Pantera at speed.  I imagine how the wind flows over the sculpted lines of the body, as I hear the purr of the tires, and feel the rumble of the engine.  This surreal experience can not be truly felt while looking at a stationary automobile, no matter how much you work your imagination.  There is nothing like this experience.
We take over this gas station at one stop, where cars are filled, people are emptied, and drinks refreshed.
Back on the road, I move up through the line of cars to take more photos, and review the various models present, spending some time with each car. See these clouds ? What  day for a drive !
A car from Washington has a carb problem, and gets a quick fix.  The suggestion is to get a new one at Napa, once in Vegas.  Try that with a Ferrari !
A rapid group pass of slower traffic.
