Dear Colleagues: It is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend the IIIrd congress of P.A.N.S. that will be held in Beirut from October 4th to October 7th, 2000. This meeting promises to be outstanding at both the academic and social levels. We have addressed some of the most recent technical advances in neurosurgery, mainly in the field of spasticity abnormal movements, and tumors. The meeting is also characterized by its high professional standards, bringing together a faculty compromised of a stellar group of famous neurosurgeons. The social program is even more varied. Lebanon has fully recovered, and tourism is booming once again. Beirut, the capital, has retained its stand as the "Paris" of the Middle East. It is again the center of relaxation and enjoyment, with its luxurious hotels and harmonious mixture of the past and the present. Beirut as well as the whole of Lebanon exhibits a full range of attractions for tourists with a plethora of historical sites dating back to the Phoenicians. The temperate climate, mountains and beaches created the ideal atmosphere for a most enjoyable visit. It is as such that our social program has been planned to include excursions and outings to many of the famous attractions such as the Bekaa valley that Boasts majestic Roman monuments and ruins.
