| The natives of the north considered these
dancing, colorful displays of light in the night sky to be the spirits of
their ancestors. Modern science has discovered they are caused by highly
charged particles given off by the sun during solar storms interacting with
the earth's magnetic field. Regardless of their real origin, they still
inspire awe in the eyes of the beholder
