Panic Parables Presents a...

Submissions due October 31, 2004

This Halloween challenge comes in three parts. The first part is the pre-detention phase – in which one character does something to merit a detention. The second part is the detention phase in which detention takes place, and the third part is the conclusion phase which puts part one and two together and adds a third part taking place Halloween night.

Here are the rules: Each week the rules for one phase will be announced. You can participate in just one phase of the challenge if you want, but to participate in the third part you’ll need to do the first two. The phases are like mini challenges and you can post them as replies to the message at Panic Parables. There’s no deadline for completing the mini challenges, but the deadline for the conclusion phase will be October 31, 2004. Completed entries should be uploaded to the Panic Parables files sections. Be sure to send a message to the group announcing your file. Additionally, if you upload your submission to Fanfiction.net or any other online site, send in a link so we can review.

Part One - The pre-detention phase

1. Choose 3 characters names.
2. Go to here and enter each of the characters names individually.
3. Write a 500 or less word challenge using the results you get from 3. In your piece someone must do something to merit a detention.
4. It takes place on the morning of Halloween.
5. Post responses as replies to message 582.

Part Two - The Detention Phase

This part of the challenge takes place during detention. This can either be a detention that was set up in part one of the challenge or part two can stand alone. Remember that you can still participate in part one of the challenge – just be sure to post it in the right thread (message 582).

1. Go to: here and take the Harry Potter Obsession quiz. Use your result three times in your story.
2. What’s your favorite HP candy? There should be at least two mentions of it in your story.
3. The following things should also be in your story: a black cat, a cauldron, “that’s not true”, and pumpkin juice.

Entries should be no longer than 500 words and posted as a reply to message 595.

Part Three - The Conclusion Phase

Take the “which Harry Potter character are you” quiz here(if this link doesn’t work try this), and something bad must happen to that character. Put your pen name into the personality cocktail here. Characters in your story must make a potion using those ingredients (they can use other things, too). Where do they get the ingredients, and what does the potion do? Finally, someone must drink the potion and something must happen to him/her at midnight on Halloween. There is no length requirement for this part of the challenge, but it must also include parts one and two of the challenge.

Completed entries should be uploaded to the Panic Parables files sections. Be sure to send a message to the group announcing your file. Additionally, if you upload your submission to Fanfiction.net or any other online site, send in a link so we can review.
