| On Wednesday, Dec. 17, we worked at the Crisis Nursery Santa Store, at Northwoods Mall. We helped kids shop for their families and friends. All of the money raised helps the Crittenton Centers Crisis Nursery in Peoria. | ||||||||||||
| The Crisis Nursery is a temporary shelter for 26 children in the Tri-County area (Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties), ages 0-6 years, whose family is in some sort of crisis at risk of or are homeless. Each family is assessed individually to determine possible risk factors of abuse and neglect. The program offers a family assessment, parenting classes, support groups, and family advocacy which includes in-home visits. Each child is evaluated for symptoms of abuse, neglect, medical and child development problems. The program also provides community education and public awareness regarding the prevention of child abuse and neglect efforts in their community. Support services include assisting the family with basic needs such as diapers, formula, baby food, clothing, shoes and baby equipment, when available. No fees for services. |
