The 50 Year Anniversary Police Patch 2013-2014

Chief Tanaka made the following design changes in the department patch. The Star was made smaller as well as the word Police. Between the Star and Police, a gold ribbon was placed. In the middle of the ribbon are the words “50th Anniversary.” To the left of the ribbon is the year the college was started, 1963. On the right is the anniversary year, 2013.

During the 1990’s the District Police saw many changes. Laura Lorman was hired as the first female police chief, she served as the longest tenured police chief and changed the reporting structure from a chief and sergeant to chief and lieutenant. The department currently has seven sworn officers. The District Police continues to keep up with its P.O.S.T. training requirements, and trains with other departments in the county such as the Campbell Police Department, the San Jose Police Department, the Santa Clara Police Department, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety. The District Police has also trained with the San Diego Community College District Police and the University of California Santa Cruz Police in active shooter training.
