Too
much excitement. All the lights on audience were switched off. Cheers. Shouting.
Joy. Whistles. Yes, finally much awaited Sonu Nigam arrived on the stage.
He
started with few starting lines of “Kal
Ho Na Ho” : “PAL KO TALE…….”
Then
first song by him was “SURAJ HUVA MADHAM”.
Yes,
it was Sonu Nigam live concert. It makes the audience thrilled. Are you ready to
enjoy? Then just read on………..
Palace
Grounds on Sunday seemed to be a melting pot of thousands of people from
different walks of life. They all have one common thread -- their love for
Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam. There was a heavy downpour in the evening.
The
organizers and were doubtful weather audience will come or not. However the rain did
not dampen the spirit of the thousands who had come all set to listen to the
singer. It can not! They Geared with an umbrella and heavy winter clothes to
fight the chilly weather. Even the crowd was neither put off by the
two-hour-long delay before the concert nor the heavy Mekhri Circle traffic.
31st
October 8:15 PM The show begins with prayer to lord Ganesha by Sonu Nigam.
Following the Indian tradition.
“VAKRATUND
MAHAAKAAY…..”
There
was a long list of all the sponsors. Just a commercial formality!! :(
Before,
Sonu Nigam start his performance, to set the rapport Chetan Rana sang songs:
“BHIGE
HOTH TERE…..” – Murder
The
show was anchored by popular VJ Ruby Bhatia. She asked, should she speak in
Hindi/English. As per my anticipation, few people replied, “Kannada”. Yes,
city-based dazzler Soumya Rao spoke in Kannda also. She felt TUMBA SANTOSHA
while talking with his own native place’s people in their own language.
She
has sung songs for Hindi movies like Dam, Dhoom, Samay, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya etc.
The show continue…

Then
Ruby Bhatia announced, “KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI, there are some moments in life,
when we become completely speechless. I do not have words. How to say?” Chetan
Rana just appeared, “Main Hoon Na…” And he continues with some Hindi
SHAAYARIs..
“HASI
LADAKIYA BAHOT HAI, TUM SI EK HAI. TARE BAHOT HAI, SURAJ EK HAI….. AAFATAAB
SIRF EK HAI….”
Then
he introduced Sonu Nigam in SHAAYARAANAA ANDAZ. He recited one SHAAYARI, which
contains Sonu Nigam’s career.

NIGAM KA FOOL KHILAA DIYAA….
DIWAANAA…
YAAD….
Etc.
etc.
Too

He
started with few starting lines of “Kal

first song by him was :

Gam
There
was a wonderful colorful music-ful lighting. The colorful smokes were spread on
the stage along with song.
He
greeted the audience, “NAMASKAAR” He came with preparation to sing in front
of empty chairs. He got a pleasant surprise, by seeing too much audience, in
spite of rain!! He appreciated it. He made the lights ON. He further surprised,
“Oh! ITANE SAARE LOG ABHI PICHHE BHI HAI!” He greets to all of us. He
declared ‘Table of contents’ , “The show will be like a ride in a vehicle.
I will start with fist gear. The we will change the gear. Second, third….upto
sixth gear!!! Then if time permits, we will go to seventh gear. But, the first
impression is last impression. So the first song will be melodious, and then
MAIN APANI AUKAAT PE AA JAWUNGAA!!! :)”
“MERA
RANG DE BASANTI CHAULA ……” - Legend of Bhagath Singh
He
really warmed up the crowd with his usual repertoire of fast and eminently
hummable tunes throughout the show. Next he sung a BHAJAN…….So called BHAJAN
:)
“GUMSUDA…………..”
– Chalate Chalate
Then
second gear. He decalred, now he will not sing alone. The audience has to sing
along with him. His popular Indipop album.
“DIWANA…..MAIN
HOON DIWANA TERA…..”
“HASTI
RAHE TU HASATI RAHE…..” – Saathiya.
It
left the crowd mesmerized, as he egged on the audience to lend cheer.
He
asked, “Are you enjoying?” Obviously “Yes!”
He
talked something about himself. His initial days of
struggle. In 1991, he came from Delhi to Mumbai. His song, “ACHCHHA
SILAA DIYAA….” Became popular. People were making funny parody of this song.
He got break, but after that he was getting all negative songs only with words
like: BEVAFAA, HAJAAI, LAASH, KABRASTAAN, SMASHAAN etc. there was one song,
“MAIN DUNIYA TERI CHHOD CHALAA….” “TO FIR GAANAA KAISE GAA RAHAA HAI?”.
All these kind of songs crates one image of Sonu Nigam. An old man, who failed
in love and did not achieve anything in life. Sonu Nigam wanted to change his
image. He consider Mahmad Rafi as his mentor. He changed his singing style since
1995…… “Are you ready to dance?”

ISHQ HAI JO…..” - Pyar Tune Kya Kiya
Sonu
Nigam introduces all the music players.
“KISAKAA
HAI YE TUJAKO …” – MAIN HOON NAA.
It
was a memorable night. Melodious songs. Colorful lights and colorful smokes on
stage. Right hand side TV Tower. Left hand side, moon was playing hide and seek
with clouds.
Then
he sang a different song…..JARA HATA KE. It was duet with Soumya Rao. Sonu
Nigam again introduced her, “She is from your own city. She rarely does stage
show. She accompanied this concert, on my special request. If I speak anything
in Kannda, she feels very happy. For me Kannda is KAALAA AXAR BHESH BARAABAR”
“KYA
SE KYA HONE LAGAA HAI….JINA OOO TERE LIYE..”
“MAINE
JISKO CHAHA MIL GAYA….DEKH KAR TUMHARI YEH ADAAA, JAANE MAN HUWA MAIN FIDAA”
One
more song, “….”
Then
he asked us, “THAK GAYE? Are you tiered?” Obviously “No”
“Now,
slow song. No TAALI claps.”

Then
he divided audience in two parts. Left and Right. He requested first Right side
to sing with him

He
failed left side in singing by declaring them POPATLAL.

right side audience. I was in right side.

also failed :)
Then
the song continued.
“What
Next?” “BIJURIYA”
“What
is BIJURIYA? Can someone come here and sing it?” He requested security to
allow two kids to come to the stage.
The
kid sang it.
“He
needs Viks” “ AB BHIKH MAT MAAGANAA” – Audience comments.
Then
he sang it:

The
audience was too much enjoying. Singing along with him, dancing….
Then
there was a break. VJ Rubi came. She tried to present a joke. But it failed.
Audience did not respond to joke with laugh. So she invited mimicry artist Sunil
Pol. He make audience laugh with numerous jokes.
He
made some comments on singer Adnaan Swami. His weight. Few jokes. Etc…
Then
he presented a hypothetical situation about Murder’s song. “BHIGE HOTH TERE….”
Suppose a CHUDAIL force singer to sing this song for herself what can be
wordings for “MALLIKAA CHUDAIL KI TAARIF” ?

Daughter

One
more joke on modern daughter and her mother.
Daughter
asked her MOM to help her to make list of her boyfriend. As she wanted to wish
all of them Happy valentine day on 14th February. Her mother was too
busy in doing make-up. Finally, mother handed over a diary which contains the
list of boyfriend. The daughter reads out. “Shrma ji, Gupta ji, Oho MOM, YEH
TO AAP KI Diary HAI…” Finally she herself tried to recall all.

Then
some comments on TV serial. Tulasi cries, “MIHIR

JANGAL MAIN CHHODAKE AYI FIR BHI husband VAAPAS AA GAYAA”
Females
always hide their age. After death they argue with GOD also, “ITNI JALDI KYON
MAAR DIYA. ABHI TO MAIN just PAIDA HUVI THI. ….BHAGAWAAN KAHIN KA.” One
joke, something like Santoor soap advertisement.
A
kid and its mother were going to attend a marriage. The mother strictly
instructed her kid not to address her as mummy but address her only as DIDI.
When the father came the kid informed to mother, “DIDI, DIDI, BHAIYA AA GAYE !
“ :)
The
last item. Sunil Pol showed his courage to present this item as now Virappan is
no more. Suppose, Virappan kidnap Madhuri Dixit. All the Hindi movie Heros tried
to bring Madhuri back from Virappan. How they will request to Virappan. Virappan
just take his gun. What will be the next dialog by the hero. It was really
funny.
Welcome
back after the break.
Sonu
Nigam has two sister. Meena is one year younger than him. Nikita is 11 year
younger than him. They both are singers. Even their father is also singer.
Here,
Sonu Nigam informed just relative age of his sisters. Anyway, absolute and
correct age of any female is secret. :) They performed on stage.

beside my right side, there was a way. One enthusiastic boy from audience came

an excellent dance just beside me.

My favorite song. I enjoyed it too much.

Ruby
Bhatia came. There was some mistake
in sponsor’s name, that she announced at beginning. So she corrected it.
“From my heart of bottom I am sorry. :) we used to do it tongue of sleep
sometime. Sometimes we say, I meet to please you, instead of I please to meet
you.” Again it was a commercial formality. :(
Chetan
Rana came and asked to audience about its choice. “CHUDAIL KAA GAANAA from
murder” - A comment from audience.
This
time, he choose a medium pace song, from the same movie Murder,
“KAHO
NAA KAHO, YEH AANKHE BOLATI HAI SANAM…..” – Murder.
One
SHAARAYI:

He
confirmed, “AAP LOG ENJOY KAR RAHE HAI?”
Then
he started the most melodious, sensitive song. Real truth.
“HAR
GADHI BADAL RAHI HAI……” – Kal Ho Na Ho
In
real life also, Sonu Nigam believes in living in the present. He
recalled that day April 12, 2004. When he barely managed to survive from a bomb
blast at Karaachi. He saw the death from very near.
That
day was KADAVAA CHOTH. He also wished and prayed for long life for husbands of
all females over there. And the song continues.
Next

Then
my most favorite song.
“YEH
DIL DIWAANA……” – Pardesh
I
always wished to listen this song in car, like in movie Shahrukhkhan sang.
Recently, I did that. Just for my car journey I bought Pardesh audio cassette.

Sonu, Nikita and Soumya sang together
“MAAHI
BE….”
We
all got promotion. The audience from back comes to our compartment. We went to
next front compartment, nearer to stage. The security became liberal. He sang
one DHAMAKEDAAR song. Sorry, I can not recall it now. It was 11:40 PM The show
should be end now for his safety reason. He requested just for five more minutes
to security and the last five minutes. It was like seventh gear!! We all ZOOME,
NAACHE and enjoyed it a lot.

Now,
I realized that I have not enjoyed JagjitSing live concert this much, as I
enjoyed this Sonu Nigam concert. It was excellent. Even one of my neighbor in
the audience was talking that he has enjoyed, almost all live concert at
Bangalore.
I
got one friend, who was also alone at show, like me. So we co-operate each other
to preserve our seats, while we went for dinner during the show. I was writing
all this songs, SHAYARIs, jokes etc so one guy was wondering and asked me the
reason. :) I observed huge mixer panel and light control panel.
This
time tickets were easily available at
all Cafe Coffee Day, Planet M and Gangotree outlets. Even at venue itself the
sell of tickets was there.
