Shankar Mahadevan live concert: Manish Panchmatia

Shankar Mahadevan

Yes, it was 17th Feb evening. Sunaina announced : “not in 5 min, but Shankar will be on stage right now, if the audience shout loud enough 1,2 and 3…”  a loud shout by audience and next voice was by Shankar with a devotional prayer. (4)

All Banglorians knows ‘Smily Sunaina’ - Sunaina Lal who accompanies during return drive ‘enjoy ride’ towards home in evening. She is Radio Citi RJ. She welcome all on behalf of Radio Citi and did some formal announcement about sponsors. (0)

Next was the amazing Breathless song. Since I remember the complete lyrics, I was singing along with him. It was a really an exciting moment, that Shankar Mahadevan himself was singing Breathless live. It was like time was stopped. We both were perfectly tuned and singing the same long song together. Only thing he was on stage and me…. :(

(5) and (6) The audience cheered. He greeted: “Bengaloruuuuuuuu How are you all?  How you all are doing?” He apologized for delay. At 5:45 AM he started from Lucknow then Delhi and… “Now I am here to rock all of you. Are you readyyyyy? Let’s start with an old Dhamaka song. It is from movie…” a person next to me commented old movie name “Umrauzan…” :)

He insisted to make it interactive with clap, dance, shout, whistles…Even he asked specifically to VIP guests, “are you ready to rock?” All agrees and show started with Dhamaka song - originally by Kishor Kumar “Dekha na hai re…”

(movie 3) “Dil Chahata Hai…” (7) He convinced the audience for not to worry we will have all songs from KANK, Don, Kajrare etc. but let’s start with A R Raheman. He asked the audience to repeat ‘Take it easy….’ Thus next was ‘Urvashi’(8) (9) After that Pretty Women (10) and Dil Se…(11) (12)

Das Bahane Le Ke…’ again. (movie 5) This time with Shankar’s voice. (13) Prior to Shankar Mahadevan arrival, audience already enjoyed a dance performance on this song and other songs like ‘Shake it Suzzane D Me’, Dhoom 2 (movie 2) title song. Dr. Neha Rajpal – a Sa Re Ga Ma winner sang ‘Crezy kiya Re’ with her really sexy voice. Other one was ‘Aaj ki raat….’ (movie 1) (1) (2) (3)

Naach Baliye….’ (14) in the voice of Shankar Mahadvan and Dr. Neha Rajpal. Shankar customized one line “Bangalore city to sota hi nahi hai…” Then some Kannada song. (15) Next he doubted audience :) “I do not know whether you have heard this song or not…” :) The audience completed the remaining phrase of the song “Mitawaaaaaa….” with full energy. (16) (movie 6)

(17) Don title song. Again special wordings for BangaloreAjab saa nasha Banglore pe Chhaa rahaa hai…” I called my friend to share this moment, who set his caller tune as “Don kaa intzaar to 11 mulko ki pulis…” He enjoyed the song and loud shouting of people over the phone.

(18) Next one also from Don: “Tum ko kyaa bataaye apanaa haal kyaa hai….. Nikale the ham Lucknow se subah pone Chhe baze, tab jaake a baa pahunchaa hun..” :) “khai ke pan banaa rasawaalaa…” He blended different songs with this song like (19) “Rang Barse Bhige Chunarwaali…” how can one forget the upcoming Holi festival? In between the popular demand “Jogi Jogi Jogi….” And again return back to same song from Don. The audience was really rocking. (20)

He invited some small children on the stage for KANK song ‘Where is the party tonight?.....’ (21) “Now too much dance. So let us have some classical song” :( He altered the Dil Chahata Hai song and then back to original tune with fast beats. ‘Koi kahe….’ (22) (movie 7) The popular Kannada song “Jogi Jogi…” was blended here also.

He teased the audience once more by proposing for a LORRY and next one was a LORRY :) ‘Kajarare…’ (23) (24) (25) The lorry was the last item. Like all good memorable shows this show also ended. Fire crackers fill the sky with different colors. And finally Shankar ended the show with “Bharat Maataa Ki Jay”

So we 3 friends enjoyed the 17th Feb evening and the entire credit goes to Sunaina, who provided us the free passes for the concert. And put smile on our face. Thanks.
