| ~*Wont you come over? You know that you want to How does it feel to know I still want you?*~ The young woman brushed away a loose strand of blonde hair and sighed as she looked into the mirror. Her light blue eyes, which usually sparkled with a lust for life, now looked distant, almost sad. Although, shed never admit it, she missed him. More than she ever thought she would. It didnt help that they were forced to see each other practically every day, either. Both being in the music business, and being on the same record label made it unavoidable to not cross each others paths. Maybe that was the problem constantly being with each other, never having time apart, or time to actually miss each other. She looked down at the ring he had given her, on the night of her first performance- something to ease her nerves a bit. Flashback She sighed as she leaned out over the balcony to stare out at the amazing view of the hotel. She was beyond nervous. No, this wasnt the first time shed ever performed in front of people, but it was the first performance in which people were there to actually see HER. She felt someones arms go around her waist, and almost instinctively she leaned back in them. Nervous? Terrified. She answered. He chuckled softly and kissed her neck, gently. Theyll love you, Jen. I know they will. She smiled. You think? He shook his head. I know. She turned in his arms and put her arms around him and pulled him close. Im still scared, Justin. He nodded, running his fingers through her hair. I know, baby, I know. Oh. I have something for you. She grinned. A present? He nodded. Something to remind you, that even when youre up there, Im right there with you He pulled out a little box and handed it to her. She opened it and gasped at what she saw. It was a silver band with hearts and diamonds engraved in it. Oh, wow. He smiled. Look inside. She turned the ring and read what was engraved. Always believe. She smiled, slipped it on, and kissed him. Thanks sweetie. I love it. End Flashback ~*Why do we always seem, To want what we cant have? Lessons learned. But then listen to my heart, And it says still run back for more*~ She sighed to herself and walked out into the silent hall. She looked around and felt her heart plummet when she saw him turn the corner, walking towards her with HER. She wanted to take off running the other way, or run back inside the bathroom, but she knew that would just show how much she wanted to avoid him. She had to play this cool. Casually, she walked down the hall towards them. He sighed to himself as he saw her walk towards them, looking so confident. He took a deep breath and kept walking. He stopped and forced a smile. Hey Jen. She nodded. Hello. He looked down at his feet, unsure of what to say next. Um, you remember Monica, right? Jen smirked. Yeah, hi. Um, I really should get going I have to get down to see Max. Nice seein ya. She side-stepped around them and quickly turned the corner. She leaned back against the wall, and closed her eyes. Why does this always seem to happen to me? Later that night Jen hummed a few notes, while looking at her sheet music, trying to figure out a couple notes to her new song. She sighed and threw it down. Why cant I ever get that right?! She went over to her desk and pulled out a pencil to change a few things, when she stumbled upon an old picture frame of her and Justin at Disney World, laughing at this teenage kid who thought he was Mr. Big Shot get a whole bucket of ice water dumped on him. She smiled wistfully as she remembered how much fun they always had together. She sat down on her bed, and sighed. God, what happened to them?! She shook her head of her thoughts and got back to searching for a pencil in the drawer to make some corrections. He was with her now. She couldnt get him back even if she tried. ~*Im happy for you Im sure that she really loves you But it breaks my heart, To know I cant hold you*~ He laid in bed that night, unable to think about anything but her. She was the one who made him feel like he was the single most important person in the world. He knew that Monica, she wouldnt last. She didnt mean anything to him, compared to Jen. He knew that he had to find some way to get her back. He just wasnt sure how. He guessed ending things would Monica would be the first step but then what? I cant just walk back into her life and try to pick up where they left off. All he knew was he missed her. He needed her. He was tired of not being able to hold her at night. Tired of not being able to be with her. She was the only one who would actually sit down and convince him that he was capable of anything. That he could take on the world, if he wanted. He looked over at the phone, and felt tempted to call her. Cmon Timberlake, pick up the phone and call her. Its not that hard. Argh! Then, why cant I do it? he thought. He grabbed his jacket and keys and set off, knowing what he had to do now. A Week Later ~*Its just hard to think Ill never get the chance To say youre mine But every time you hear this song Youll know youve made a mark On my heart and my mind*~ She sat in the middle of the studio, trying to decide which song she wanted to use. She bit her lip in frustration, as she slammed down the papers. I give up! she yelled to no one in particular. Now, why would you do that? You always told me that giving up wouldnt solve anything. She shrugged, not looking in the direction of the voice. People change. He shook his head. No. Not like that. She turned around and crossed her arms. Is there something you need? He smiled. Funny you should ask that. Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. She looked at him, with a bored look on her face. What might that be? He took a step forward. You. Her look of boredom, soon turned to one of surprise. Excuse me? He smiled. You heard me. Jen, what have we been doing? She sighed. I dont know. He took another step. I do. Weve been being stupid. Plain and simple. Why couldnt we just realize how much we needed each other, before things got too complicated? She shrugged. Ive wondered the same thing for quite a while now. He looked at her, sadly. Why did you avoid me? She sighed. Because. It was too hard to see you with her. He nodded. Im so sorry, Jen. I cant believe we didnt see how blind and ignorant we were being. I never stopped loving you. And I know you didnt stop loving me either. She looked up at him. And how would you know? He took her hand in his and ran his finger over the ring. You never took it off. She shrugged. It was my good luck charm. He pulled her to him and hugged her. Youre my good luck charm. What do you say we give us another chance? She put her arms around his neck and kissed him softly. I think thats the best idea Ive heard in a very long time. He grinned and kissed her again, knowing that nothing was going to tear them apart this time.
