Chapter Seven
I just don't want to die," Josh said, climbing aboard the ride. "Josh, it's Tilt-A-Whirl; what's it gonna do, spin us to death?" Danielle asked, sarcastically, sitting herself next to him in the seat. He laughed, and pulled the bar down over their laps. The ride began, and the two suddenly found themselves in a constant spin. "I..can't....stop laughing," Danielle managed to squeeze out, between giggles. "Me either," Josh screamed back. The two were enjoying forcing their cart to spin endlessly. Danielle's body fell sideways, her head landing on Josh's shoulder.

Her eyes slowly rolled from the shoulder of his jean jacket, towards his face. She found his eyes staring straight back at hers. "Um, maybe we should try something that doesn't, move so much," Danielle said nervously, pulling herself from Josh's side. "We passed a Fun House on the way here," Josh said, pulling his baseball cap farther down on his face. Together, Josh and Danielle exited the ride and headed towards the Fun House.

"Step right up, and win your pretty girlfriend a big prize!!!" a voice hollered their direction. Josh and Danielle smiled at each other nervously. "Excuse me?" a small voice asked from behind. Josh and Danielle turned around to see a sweet, freckled face before them. "Are you JC from NSYNC?" she asked innocently. "Why, yes I am, little lady, and just might who you be?" Josh asked, bending down to her. "Katie," she said shyly. "It's nice to meet you, Katie," Josh said, shaking her hand. She blushed and handed him a small piece of paper and a pen. "Um...will you sign this?" "Sure," he replied cheerfully. Katie watched in admiration as he signed his name. She slowly glanced up at Danielle and smiled. "Is she your girlfriend?" she asked sweetly. Josh smiled and shook his head. "Na, that's Danielle. She's just a friend of mine."
"Oh. She should be your girlfriend. She's really pretty." Katie said, smiling at Danielle. Josh laughed, and handed the paper and pen back to her. "Ya, she is kind of pretty, isn't she?" he asked her. Danielle felt her face burn.

"I think we might be too big for this," Josh said, examining the outside of the Fun House. "Oh, quit your worrying. At least you know you won't be killed in here," Danielle said, running past him and into the Fun House. "You don't know that!" he yelled, running after her into the Fun House.

"Am I REALLY this squatty looking?" Danielle asked her reflection in the mirror before her. "Do you REALLY want to know?" Josh asked behind her. Danielle smacked his arm, and continued examing herself in the mirror. "You, hush!"
"What's through door #2?" Josh asked, running through black curtains, into the next room. "Wait!" Danielle exclaimed, running after him. She rushed through the curtains only to be greeted by darkness. "Josh?" she asked the empty room.

Danielle examined the room, and noticed three doors, each with light glowing from the bottoms of them. Danielle slowly began walking towards them. "Ha!" Josh yelled, popping up behind her. Danielle screamed, and turned around to face him. She surprisingly found herself only inches from his body. She could feel his breath hit her face. She froze. "I can't move," Danielle whispered.

"Neither can I," Josh whispered back, sliding his hand onto Danielle's back. They each closed their eyes and moved closer to one another. They shared a soft kiss. They each drew their heads back and smiled. Josh cupped Danielle's face into his hands, and kissed her again. "Wow," Danielle finally whispered. "Ya.." Josh said, letting go of her face. The sounds of someone approaching hurried them out of the room. They quickly found their way out of the Fun House and back into the night air. The two walked awkwardly, not knowing what to say to one another. Josh seemed almost in a daze, not hearing anything Danielle said.

"Maybe we should just go?" Danielle said finally. "Huh?" Josh asked, oblivious to what she said. "Oh,okay." They drove back
to the studio in silence. Danielle pulled into the parking lot, and Josh opened his door. "Danielle," he said turning to her, "maybe, we should just forget that happened. I mean, neither one of us intended on that to happen now did we?" he asked insecurely. He lowered his eyes to the car keys in his hands. Danielle's smile quickly faded. "Of course not! That's um that's exactly what I was thinking," she said quickly. "Oh," he said shocked. "Well, good then..." he said climbing out of the car.

"I'll um, see you Monday?" he asked. "Ya, Monday." They each smiled their best fake smile. Josh climbed into his Jeep and sat there thinking for a minute. He wiped his lips with his thumb and sighed. "I did the right thing," he thought to himself. "I simply can't do this..
