Chapter Eight
"Crawling in my skin, these wounds they will not heal, fear is how I fall, confusing what is real..."-Linkin Park
Aira's eyes widened in shock. "You mean Zak they were all against me from the start?" Luca smiled and nodded. "You catch on quick." She shook her head dazed. She was alone. She always was but now it was different. She always had the agency to go to. Now she had nowhere. Raising her head, she found the courage to ask, "Now what are you going to do with me?" He grinned. "Oh, am I so glad you asked. See my glorious plan is simple. To kill you. Your death will mean the most, see. And no one gets in the way of my plans. It was prophesized. A young warrior will foil my plans for ultimate destruction. That young warrior will fall in love with my first knight" He shook his head. "You now see why you have to die, don't you? I will have power! I shall reign the Earth, my first knight by my side, and my mistress at my other. You WILL not get in the way!" Enough said, he walked out. "JC?!" JC looked at her helplessly, before walking out as well.

Aira sat stunned. She'd never heard of any of these prophecies She'd always found them to be stupid and superstitious. Obviously Luca did not. She looked at the blond who was leaning against the wall, smoking a cigarette. Laughing, she put it out. "How rude of me. So, Aira. You've fallen under our JC's spell, eh? Cute. But unrealistic. You had to have known somewhere along the line that it never would have worked. Someone as tasty looking as him? You had to have known that you weren't the first girl he'd ever fooled around with." Lora looked at her and covered her mouth. "Oh you nave little girl. Luca told me you were gullible but I never knew just how much until right now. Though, back to JC you've spent the night with him, I assume he's good, isn't he? The way he"

A piercing yell filled the air, causing Lora to trail off. She looked at Aira surprised, and snickered as she saw the girl covering her ears. Lora smiled and walked to the door, pausing in the door frame. "Sweet dreams, Aira." Again she snickered. "I know how much you love to fall asleep and enter the dream world." Aira watched her walk out and shut the door. She sighed, and set to work on the ropes binding her hands. She knew she had a knife hidden in her back pocket if she could just get to it Grinning, she slid it out of her pocket, and groaned in frustration as it clattered to the floor. Shoulders slumping she realized there was nothing more she could do, and fell into a deep restless sleep.

She awoke hours later to the door being unlocked. Opening her eyes slowly, she watched as the figure quietly shut the door behind him. Stepping into the light, she saw JC walk toward her, eyes holding nothing but sincerity. "Aira." She looked away. "Go away." He sighed. "I know you hate me right now but, please. Let me explain." She looked at him and glared. "What's there to explain? Luca's your dad, and you didn't even have the decency to tell me you're pimping around with Daddy's executives explain that to me. Just explain that." He looked at her, and saw a single tear fall down her face. Quickly she brushed it away, hoping he hadn't seen. Taking her hand, he kissed it and placed it to his heart. "Do you feel that?" She sniffled and looked at him. "It's your heart." He nodded. "Exactly. Do you feel how it's racing?" She nodded. He smiled. "It's because I've been thinking about you you're all I can think about Aira I'm sorry I never told you he was my father I wanted to but I didn't want to lose you. And Lora she means nothing to me. She's my dad's whore. I never had anything with her. Aira I know you don't believe me, and this has got to be the worst time to say this, but I love you."

Her eyes widened in surprise, as she looked at him. After a few passing minutes she took her hand away and rested it upon his cheek, drawing him close. "I love you too." She whispered huskily. A smile spread across his tired features before pulling her to him for a kiss. A few moments later, he pulled away, and moved behind her, freeing her. She turned and threw her arms around his neck, holding him close. Standing, he pulled her up, and took her hand. "Let's go. We're gonna make a break for the roof. I've called for a helicopter that's gonna come and get us, alright?" She nodded. He smiled, and stroked her cheek. "We're gonna make it. I promise. Here." He handed her her gun. "Put this in your waistband." She did as he said, and he nodded. "Let's go."

Following him out into the dimly lit hall, the two worked their way up the winding stairs, praying no one would follow. Opening the door to the roof, he climbed up, pulling her along after him. After shutting the door, he smiled. His smile soon faded, as he saw the look on her face. Slowly turning, he saw Luca along with about 20-30 other men standing behind him. Luca frowned and snarled, "Going somewhere?"
