Chapter Five
"Still the one, that I wouldn't switch, we're still having fun, and you're still the one, you are still the one that makes me shout, still the one that I dream about..."-Cheap Trick
~*The next day*~

She sat down in her chair at work, thinking. She suddenly got up and walked over to David's office. She knocked and let herself in. "I can't do the story, tonight."
He looked at her and laughed. "Yeah, right." She nodded. "I'm serious. I can't." He sighed. "You have to. There's no one to cover you. You wanted this job all bad yesterday, now you're stuck with it. Sorry, Elizabeth."
She knew this was one argument she couldn't win. She walked back to her seat and put her head down and groaned. It's not that she didn't want to go, cuz she did, but seeing them, triggered some unwanted memories, and they were just a reminder of how lonely she was.

~* show that night*~

Whitney looked at her. "What is wrong? You are being awfully quiet. That's so not like you, Liz." Liz sighed. "Sorry, Whit. I'm fine. Let's just go and get this over with." Whitney nods. "Ok, backstage! Whoo!"
They walked in, flashed their passes and walked in and saw everyone bustling around, busy, even though it was a couple hours before showtime. "Liz!" she heard a male voice calling her. She turned around and saw Chris. "Hi, Chris." He smiled. "Who's this?" She laughed. "This is Whitney."

He grinned. "The one that's gotta go out with David?" Whitney groaned. "Liz..." She laughed. "That's her." He laughed. "Ok, c'mon, this way." He led them to where the guys were currently hanging out.
Justin smiled, a basketball in his hands. "C'mon, Lizzie, shoot some with me?" She grinned. "Nope. I humiliated you last time." He laughed. "You'll see I've improved." She smiled. "I'm sure you have, but not now, k?" He sighed. "Ok. What about your friend?" Whitney shook her head. "I'm not into basketball."

He groaned. "Man.." He went back to playing basketball by himself. Liz saw JC falling asleep on the couch and she shook her head. She walked past him, and as she did she smacked him upside the head. "Oww!" She laughed and sat down next to him. "Tired?" He smiled. "I was till *someone* hit me." Whitney smiled at her friend and got an idea.
Maybe, just maybe, they could get her mind off Micheal...

She heard an excited voice behind her and looked around and saw a guy about their age and a girl with blond hair come running up. Liz looked back and saw Christina and Trace come running up to them. She jumped up and ran over to them. "Guys!" Justin stopped playing basketball and came over as did JC.
Christina smiled. "I haven't seen you guys in soo long!" Trace nodded. "Geeze. Look at us now. I remember when we pushed blondie here on the swings and she's always jump off." Liz grinned. "That's me." Johnny saw the group and wondered what all the fuss was about. "Guys, you got meet n greet in 10. Better not be late." Joey looked at Johnny surprised. "Johnny, this is Liz. THE Liz." Johnny smiled and nodded. "Nice to meet you. They talk about you quite frequently."
She smiled and looked at them. "So, I've heard." Justin laughed and draped his arm around her shoulder. "Yep. My best friends all here. How awesome." Trace looked at Liz. "I now forgive you for not calling me back." Liz smiled. "I'm sorry, these guys, got me all messed up.." He nodded. "It's alright." Christina smiled at her friends and held up her arm. "I've still got it." Liz smiled and held up her wrist. "Me too."

The others revealed their bracelets as well. Liz laughed. "At least we haven't forgotten." "Guys. Gotta go. Now." a stage manager looked at them, a bit annoyed. Justin nodded. "We'll catch up with you guys later. Don't go nowhere." Liz smiled and nodded. The guys went off and the remaining 3 sat down and got caught up.

~*Later that night after the show*~

Liz sat in a corner writing down notes from the concert while the others talked and laughed. She frowned, not really focusing. She had lots of other stuff on her mind... JC came up and sat down beside her. "Hey." She looked up. "Hi."
"Working hard, eh?" She nodded. "Yeah." He smiled. "Do it later." She looked down at her work and sighed. "Yeah, I guess, I will." He nodded. "Good. Um, look there's something I want to talk to you about later, ok?" She looked at him curiously. "Tell me now." He shook his head. "No, not here." She nodded. "Ok." He stood up and held his hand out to her. "C'mon, Liz-bit." She took his hand and stood up. He walked with her over to the others. Whitney raised her eyebrows. Liz shot her a look.
Christina grinned. "Wow, Liz. You look so awesome." Liz smiled. "You too, Chrissy." She laughed. "You guys are the only ones I let call me that. I yell at everyone else." Liz laughed. "I know it. No one can call me Lizzie or Lizbeth. And Liz-bit's just sacred. No one can touch that one." JC smiled. "That's right. That's my name." She smiled. This was awesome, back with her friends. She wished somehow, that they hadn't all gotten split up and stayed the way it was. It would've been so much better. But then, I guess, we wouldn't be as happy as we are now. Heck, they wouldn't be as happy. I'm just miserable. I hate it here. She looked down, with a silent look on her face.

Justin looked at her. "Hey, Lizzie, you ok?" She looked up and nodded. "I'm fine." JC looked at her. "C'mon. I need to talk to you." She gave him a weird look. "I thought you said later." He shook his head. "It can't wait." He pulled her up as she groaned. "We'll be right back." Whitney smiled.
Please, let him do what I think he's gonna do
