History

In the past 5,000 years of Chinese history, China has undergone different stages of society.  Feudal society gradually replaced the slave society somewhere around the 3rd century BC.  Afterward, China stayed in its feudalist age for 2,000 years; although the establisher of every dynasty implemented reforms in the central government, few significant changes took place because of the deep-rooted Confucian ideals that buttressed absolute monarchy.
The first sentence of The Romance of Three Kingdoms states "the society divides after long periods of unity, and unites after long periods of division."  When one considers the overall states of the Chinese society in history, one can find that this quote is absolutely valuable:  history repeats itself in an eternal cycle.
