September 28, 2005
Today Paul and I are celebrated our 30th anniversary in grand
style. My
sweet sister Sandra arranged
for us to spend our anniversary at the wonderful
Greenbrier Resort in White
Sulphur Springs, WV. The Greenbrier is widely regarded as one of the
finest resorts in the world.
We arrived on a beautiful Wednesday morning and checked into our cottage
on Paradise Row, and it was a
beautiful luxurious suite. The original
Cottages of Paradise Row were constructed in the early 1800's and were
once popular honeymoon accommodations at The Greenbrier. They overlook
the famous Springhouse.

Each
guest house features king-size bed, parlor with sofa bed, two baths,
wet bar, fireplace, patio and porch.

We went to have breakfast at the
beautiful dining room. We took a guided tour of
Greenbrier.

We were lead to a
horse drawn carriage driven by a sweet man in a top hat and
tuxedo jacket. He drove us on a
wonderful ride all around the grounds of the greenbrier.

He drove us right up to a
gazebo where there was a server waiting for us.

He led us to a table
set with fine linens and decorated with flowers and balloons.
The carriage ride and picnic was a wonderful gift arranged by Renee,
Hoof, Jeff, Jenna, Sandra and David.
Thank you all very much!!!!

He then
served us a bottle of chilled wine and a delicious lunch.

We started
off with a fresh berries. then a delicious salad and fried
chicken filets, for dessert a fresh berry custard. The food and weather
was
absolutely perfect.

We strolled through the park on our way back to our room,
when we
arrived, we had a gift of
flowers and candy waiting for us,
and Mom sent us a wonderful gift.

A box full of gourmet
snacks, coffee and a wonderful informative book
about the history of the Greenbrier.
We walked next door to the museum strolled through some shops,

we went to
the Sam Snead golf club and had a cocktail

then we went to take in the
beautiful view at the outdoor Infinity
pool.
The pool overlooks one of the picturesque golf courses. The
pool's zero entry design mimics nature with a seamless border between
land and water and creates the illusion of a lakeside getaway at The
Greenbrier.

We went back to the main hotel,
toured the indoor pool,

and had a private tour of
some of the best suites in the hotel.

Then we went to the afternoon
tea
party.
We
went back to our room and dressed for supper.
We had a delicious supper,
after we went to the the
historic Old white Lounge
listened to some music, danced and
had a night cap.
We walked out to the patio to enjoy the night air,

When we got back to our room we had a bottle of Champaign and
flowers and candy
waiting for us,

and rose petals on our bed.

We awoke and went to have breakfast in the Drapers cafe,

we visited Sandra and some of her co-workers,

then went to the theater room and watched a captivating
slide presentation that showcased the former top-secret bunker that was
built under the West Virginia
Wing during the Cold War era.,
we met the Greenbrier's historian
Dr. Robert Conte,(the
author of the book Mom gave us), and he signed our book for us.

We had a magnificent time, it was the best anniversary ever!!!!
