Day 3 - Monday
Today we went to see The David Letterman Show.

We got up early and caught a train to New York City.

We arrived at Penn Station and had to take the subway uptown.

We took the subway to 50th strreet,
Then we had a few blocks to walk to get to the Ed Sullivan's Theater.

The time had come to pick up our tickets. We were advised to get them no later than 3:00.
 Outside the doors, we were greeted by pages. 
They checked our IDs and we had to stand in line and go in the theater
 to get our tickets with the notation of "CBS GUEST."

We were told to come back at 4:30 so we went to the Hello Deli to meet Rupert Jee.

After that we still had a little time before the show so we went to  the Manhattan Chili Company
right next door to the theater and had a drink.

At 4:30, we went to the front doors and were directly shown to the inner lobby, just outside the theater.
 After a little wait, a couple of energetic staffers stood on chairs to give us instructions for the show.
It was explained that our reaction to Dave and the jokes would help set the tone for the night. 
The reaction would flow back to them and create a better atmosphere for the broadcast.
Our time had come to enter the Ed Sullivan Theater

I didn't take these picture, we weren't allowed, I got them from someone else.

  the band members were introduced, and finally Paul, they played a couple of short songs.
Also introduced were Alan Kalter and Biff Henderson.
then without a coat, Dave comes running out with a bound upon his desk platform
and then to the middle of the stage in front of the camera.

Dave talks to the audience and asks for a couple of questions.
He exits and the band starts playing the opening theme song.
Alan announced the guests and other opening lines.
Dave comes out, delivers his monologue and moves over to the desk.
The show was the standard format, they did "will it float?", the top ten list and then the guest.
The show was over quickly.
 What a great experience, we had a wonderful time.

We stopped at the Hershey store to pick up a few souvenirs,

We made our way to Time Square
there was so much going on it was hard to take it all in


      
we stopped to watch a location shot  by "Trading Spaces"

we made our way back to Penn Station which is connected to Madison Square Gardens
amd we found out there was  an Eagles concert about to start.
we found a place to eat in the station, TGI Fridays

By this time it was getting dark and we couldn’t wait to see the skyline at night.
